The Hamlet of Southold is a medium-low density historic
community, the Main Road is lined with large trees and
well spaced houses with lawns and greenery.

2-story, 2-bay. gable roof Italianate house. Interesting
window heads on 2nd Floor with small brackets and
modillions. Round-headed window in gable peak. 2/2 windows.

This house and the Sturges house next door (see form
#SD 39) do not appear on the 1873 map, but they are shown
as Carpenter and Sturges on the 1909 Atlas.
They contribute to the ambience of the streetscape.
