The Hamlet of Southold is a medium-low density historic
community; the Main Road is lined with large trees and
well spaced houses with lawns and greenery.

Handsome ,low,gable-roof church in Spanish Churriguerresque
style with scrolled parapet gable on front faqade .
Red tile roof, wrought iron grillwork, mosaic detail on
entrance surrounds.

0. HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE:
This handsome building was inspired by the Mission churches
in California. The cost was $ 113, 000 for church and rectory,
and was built in part by labor of men in the parish.
The church is built of bricksthat were made locally in
Ashomomaque.
