The house stands on the Main Road, which was once the
historic King's Highway.

21-story, 3-bay gable roof building, gable end to the
street. Originally the lst floor was a store with center
double leaf door Flanked by shop windows and with porch
across the front.
Second floor was the Case residence.

southeast corner Main Street and pobart Road, owned by
Oscar L. Case; purchased by Frederick K. Terry c. 1850 and

daughter, Mary C. Case, now lives on the same upper floor,
once occupied by her parents. The location happens to be
close to the 2nd homesite of her 17th century ancestor, the
first Henry Case. These lands were also the homesite property ,
of early settler, 1st Thomas Mapes, Town Surveyor. ,M

This is the homesite land of Lieut. Richard Terry who
was the second Town Recorder in the early settlement. The
house stands on its original homesite and has earmarks of age
j of various early periods. It has undergone change and_re-
modeling which afford interesting stud_,_. the cellar door at!

Three Terry brothers, Richard, Thomas and Robert, sailed he

1635. Richard and Thomas settled in Southold. Richard and

This was a three
bay, side-entrance
plan house .
Today the facade is obscured by a one-story
addition across the front .
However, the major mass of the house is still
visible and contributes to the ambience of
the streetscape .
According to local tradition this little house
is circa 1837.
