This house stands on the west side of the Main Road, as
one enters into the Town of Southold. The Main Road used
to be the King's Highway in Colonial Times.
The May property originally faced Jockey Creek on south.

10 HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE:
*May House since circa 1840. G.W. Gaughran is a descendant.
May house in 1873.
Although most of its historic appearance is lost under modern
cladding, the house still contributes to the historic charac-
ter of this ancient highway.
