'0 HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE:
Goldsmith and Tuthill were builders and owners of ships that
brought coal and produce to New York City from their wharf
at New Suffolk. Ira Tuthill gave the then new railroad company
land for the depot in Cutchogue; bringing the distant markets
of New York and Brooklyn much nearer in time to the"North
Fork" of Long Island.
