THREE MEETINGS INTERESTING EVENTS In November 1890 a 12 foot addition was built together with a fireplace and chimney; chimney and fireplace were built by Stewart Fanning; each member was assessed y3-00 . In 1892 it tugs voted to built a horse stable for the corm ittee. I-Jarch 12, 1592-- A motion was made and carried that a committee be appointed to find out who put the pepper on the stove. Frlgy 9, 1892-- Pepper co_-V-ittee reports as folloas; That a person not a member of the club put the pepper on the stove and to the best of their 1-mowledge and belief at the investigation of the ration coilrniittee of that week and reco=eroded the following resolution.;- Resolved that hereafter any invited person who commits any act calculated to anger any member of the club be debarred from any participation of any of its meetings. Resolution adopted. In 1893 the custom started to have cleanup day in the month of June fdIllowed with strwaberry shortcake and the ladies invited. This custom has continued to the present day. Feb. 10, 1894- A motion was made and carried that they hire a dish-,aasher for the tliashingtont s Birthday dinner. At a special meeting on June 16th 189 a motion was made to build another addition 14 ft. x 16 ft. and come Thursday morning with their beds And stay all night to build the building; cost of addition 41106.19 At this same meeting a motion was made and carried that the honorary members kill all the horse flies on the �,iindows. In .lune 1696 Fequash Club had the Southsiders as guests and in August the members of Fequash Club were invited to go to the Yoriches Life Saving Station; this custom was carried on for a number of years; sometimes they traveled by stagecoach, other tunes by boat through the canal; in later years they even went by car Feb. 22, 1903- Motion made and carried that the clubhouse be moved back a suitable distance. I, - The name of this society shall be the Pequash Recreation Club. Officers- Art. II,- The officers of the Club shall be a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. They shall be elected annually at our regular meeting on the 22nd day of Nebraary in each year. Duty of Art. III-- The President shall preside at all meetings. Officers - The Vice President in the absence of the President shall take the chair. The Secretary shall keep an impartial record of the proceedings of the Club, write communications and give notice of all special meetings v+hen ordered by the President; he shall call the roll at each meeting. The Treasurer shall. receive all money's of the Club and hold the same until the expiration of his term; he shall keep a full and correct account of all moneys received and expended and deliver up to his successor _in office all books & moneys of the Club and he shall also make a quarterly statement of all the Funds in his hands. Committee on The President at each regular meeting shall Mations- Art. IV- appoint a committee of Five members to furnish rations for the next regular meeting and charge the same to the members then present. blembersh ip- Art. V Any person of good repute in the community of the male sex, over the age of 20 gears, with a capacity of at least two tureens of chovider or soup may become a member of this club by a majority vote of the members present (and voting) at the next meeting after their proposal by paying an initiation fee of at least $5.00. honorary membership may be confered by vote of the Club on any person (member) . Y., 19 ... CONSTITUTION (continued) Order - Art. VI- The proceedings and deliberations of this Club will be held immediately after the last tureen of chowder or soup is consumed. Expulbion- Art. VII- For sufficient reason any member may be expelled � by a two thirds vote of members present. Time of Art. VIZI- The regular meetings of the Club will be held Meeting- at the Pequash Club House on the 2nd Saturday of each month excepting for the month of February which shall be on the 22nd inst. Special meetings may be called by the President on the request of five members. Amendments-- Art. MIINUTE'S OF THE FIRST THREE RIEETINGS OF FEQUASH RECREATION CZ(JB Larch 12th, 1890- A call for the purpose of foaming a Club to see about building a Club House on 1r. Fleets Deck by the middle path at the bay. The parties met at the house of Josiah Albertson on ;;March 12, 1890. The meeting ryas called to order by J. C. Albertson and W. A. Fleet was chosen chairman, J. C. Albertson secretatrg. J. T. Beebe gave the estimated cost of a building 14 ft. by 22 ft. at 090.00. Motion resolved to build a house 14x22 ft. carried. Motion that a committee of 3 be appointed to draft a constitution and bylaws for the club carried. J. C. Albertson, V7. A. Fleet, W. ti'tt. Sterling were chosen as such committee. Lotion that we elect officers for I year carried. 1. A. Fleet president, Gilbert V. Howell vice president, J. C. Albertson secretary, J. T. Beebe treasurer. Motion that the shares be 100 and each person must have 2 shares to become a member carried. Motion to limit the membership to 30 carried. A conn ittee of the whole was apu_ ointed to go and see the frounds and where to place the building. Yotion to meet in the Lodge room on Saturday evening March 15, 1890 at 72 o 'clock carried. I-lotion that the name of this Club be the Pequash Club, an old Indian name for Fleets Neck carried. A-tter a good clam chovider the meeting &djourned. J. C. Albertson, sec. Mr. Henry L. Fleet gave permission to build a house for the Club on the west side of the road to the bay on the shore front. March 15, 1890- The 2nd session of the Fequash Club met in the Lodge room at the appointed time. Called to order by the President. Vinutes of the last meeting webe a}iopted. The constitution and bylaws were presented by the committee; the name of the Club tivas changed as to read The Peauash Recreation Club. Motion that rule 6 be left open for consideration at our next meeting as to lig-r-.cation carried. Motion that H. L. Fleet & Josiah Albertson be made honorary members carried. H. L. Fleet to open the Club House for the first time and he Mr. Fleet would give the club a turkey dinner. According to appointment the Club assembled in good time and a first class dinner was served at 12.30 R.M. in the best of style. After dinner the Vice President called on J. 1'lolf for a speech. The third meeting was then Galled to order by the Vice President, minutes read and adopted. Motion made and carried that the membership be 30 active members.
