17 INT[RRELATIONSHIP OF BUILDING AND SURROUNDINGS:
(indicate if building or structure is in an historic district) The store is on Route 25,
a dual lane, low density state road, which once was the histo-
ric King' s Highway. It stands at the juncture of Skunk Lane ,
amongst a highly historic cluster of buildings. Rte. 25 at
this point is called "Blubber Row" , after the many ships '
captains who lived there.
19. OTHER NOTABLE FEATURES OF BLJILDING AND SITE (including interior features i1 known):
Well-preserved turn-o£-the-century 12-story, gable roof
commercial building. 6/6 window in gable. Shed roof canopy
across front was typical of most commercial buildings in
the 19th century, The roof served as an awning and provided
shelter for Gusto mens in bad weather.
