It is surrounded by some greenery and trees, some residencies and businesses . DATE OF INITIAL CONSTRUCTION: 19.30s ARCHITECT: BUILDER: `0 HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE In the 1930s the New York Telephone Co. constructed in each community a small automated telephone exchange to replace the earlier local operators. The buildings were designed to blend with the local residential styles. The building was bought by Southold Town in 1971. and served for ten years as a courthouse. 21.
