17 INTI-RRELATIONSHIP OF BUILDING AND SURROUNDINGS:
(indicate if building or structure is in an historic district) The house is situated on
Rte 25, a dual lane low density state road, in the hamlet
of Cutchogue . It is one of the many interesting old houses
that line the roadside . The rear is wooded and there are
scattered buildings ; across the road there is a vast fruit
orchard.

2-story, 3-bay, flat-roof Italianate house with bracketed
roof overhang over paneled frieze, flanked, each side by
11-story, 2-bay wing5with paired Tuscan windows under the

eaves. Handsome floor-length 4/4 French windows (balcon: -
fenetre ) on main fagade. Porch across 2 bays on front.

This house was "Dr. Carpento.r"' in 1858 and "Dr. Terry"
in 1873.
It is a handsome house and adds immensely to the
historic character of the highway corridor.
