The building is situated on the main road in the centre
of the Village of Cutchogue , facing private residences
and backing onto the Fire Department building. It is,
however also in the proximity of fields and orchards.
I x. OTHER NOTABLE FEATURES OF BUILDING AND SITE (including interior features if known):
A large 22 story gable roof brick structure that originally
was the Goldsmith and Tuthill store. The wrap-around porch
has been removed.
This building was built of Robins Island brick.

20. HISTORICAL AND ARCHITUM RAL IMPORTANCE:
Its first, owner, Ira Tuthill, is one of the most important
figures in the history of Cutchogue and New Suffolk.
It housed the general store , built by Ira Tuthill in 1828.
This is one of the finest architectural landmarks on
Long Island. It adds greatly to this historic roadscape.
