2. COUNTY: Suffolk TOWN/CITY:Southold VILLAGE:New Suffolk
3. DESCRIPTION:At Kimogenor Point the bluffs terminate in a small
peninsula which forms a picturesque loop--shaped inlet on the
creek side. The houses are summer residences owned by indivi-
duals under the corporate name of Kimogenor Point Company,
chartered in 1908. Their gathering place is the club-house ,
situated on an islet in the middle of West Creek, reached by
a small walk-bridge. The houses of the members follow the
sandy contours of the land, forming an attractive cluster.
The houses have deep, full length porches ; the club-house
itself is entirely surrounded by its porch. Some houses have
diamond shaped leaded windows .
Bdhind these houses there is a long structure which houses a
row of ca. 11 small garages ; its front is sheathed with (cont. )
4. SIGNIFICANCE:
Kimogenor Point is one of the very picturesque points of the
North Fork area and one of the many exclusive private enclaves
to be found in this country.
In 1900 Stuart H. Moore and Beverly S. King purchased the
sandy east side of the mouth of gest Creek. In 1904 they star-
ted to build 11 bungalows and a clubhouse . A sales brochure
described it as "a group of artistic and comfortable bungalows. . .
that cost $ 1200, - to $ 1800. - to build. " The name Kimogenor
was formed by scrambling the letters in Moore and King; King
was an architect and Moore a builder.
In 1920 the Moore family sold their holdings to a group who
had been renting for a number of years. (Cont. )

board--and-batten. Some portions are flat-roofed , some are
gabled.
A windmill is also a prominent feature of the area.
North of Kimogenor Point the area abutts on New Suffolk
Avenue , a quiet, dual-lane , low density country road.
From here Jackson Street leads into Kimogenor Point.
Also alongside New Suffolk Avenue there is a tennis court
which is used by the members of the Iznogenor Point Company.

4. Significance
Five of the bungalows remain in the hands of the families
of the original buyers.
All the houses have been slightly altered over the years,
but the exteriors and the general layout remain basically
the same as when built.
This close-knit community is well maintained and is a
visual delight for all who pass by on the New Suffolk
Avenue bridge.
