HISTORICAL AND ARC'IIITLCTLiRAL IMPORTANCE: The house is situated within the grid originally laid out by Ira Tuthill and others in 1836 as a master plan for the hamlet of New Suffolk. According to local tradition this is one of the very old houses in New Suffolk. The house belonged to Captain B.E. Webb who was outstanding as captain of packet carrying freight and passengers.
