Side entrance plan, Greek Revival style house with Greek Revival front door and frieze windows under the eaves on north and south elevations. The 2-bay lz story vying on the south was added later. IIISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE: According to local tradition this is one of the oldest houses in New Suffolk, incorporating an early 18th cent, section. The columnist for the Traveler-Watchman Bob Smith lived in this house in the 30s and Oso he wrote the column known as "The Spreading Chestnut Tree" . A. I. Tuthill on 1858 map (Chase.
