The house sits on the south/west side of the Mattituck Creek.
It is set back from Westphalia Ave. which is to the south
of the property. This is a medium density area.

Large, irregular, many gabled, 22-story Queen Anne house.
Octagonal double-tiered tower on south facade with brackets.
Interesting sunburst carvings in each of gable peaks including
that of a wall-faced dormer on rear wing,. Semi-wrap around
porch ,acs on south facade.

Dr. Dorton was the local physician at the turn of the century.
In 1890 he had his office in the Octagon Building on Main Road.
