Main entrance with side lights and transom is echoed by a smaller entrance on the wing. OTHER NOTABLE FEATURES OF BUILDING AND SITE (including interior features if known): This is a simple story and a half house which represents a typical circa 1800 farmhouse. It should be preserved. HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE: In the First Aquebogue Dividend of 1661, William Hallock received two allotments which included a strip of land one-half mile wide and about three and one half miles from Long Island Sound to the Bay, April 26, 1675 William Hallock deeded "unto my son-in--law Richard Howel, Twenty rood (rod) wide of land from North to South sea lying and being next unto the lands of dilliatn. Hallioke on the east side., (Vol. II Southold Town Records, p. 222) Richard Howell b. about 1628 married Elizabeth Hallock, William Hallock' s daughter by his first wife. kichard Howell settled on this land. His house was north- east of the present Howell House #75 which was built before 1800. The Howell land is historically important because it was part of the original William Hallock allotment and 'dilliam Hallock was the first settler 21.
