Finnegan COUNCILMAN WICKHAM: NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that there has been presented to the Town Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York on the 24th day of February, 2004, a Local Law entitled "A Local Law in Relation to No Parking on Hummel Avenue, Southold, New York", and NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the Town Board of the Town of Southold will hold a public hearing on the aforesaid Local Law at the Southold Town Hall~ 53095 Main Road~ Southold New York on the 9t~ day of March~ 2004 at 5:00 p.m, at which time all interested persons xvill be given an opportunity to be heard. This proposed "Local Law in Relation to No Parking on Hummel Avenue, Southold, New York", which reads as follows: Local Law No. I. Purpose- The purpose of this Local Law is to restrict parking on Hummel Avenue to provide additional safety for vehicle traffic and maintain the rural character of the neighborhood. II. Chapter 92, Section 92-41 (Vehicles & Traffic) of the Code of the Town of Southold is hereby amended as follows: Name of Street Side Locations Hummel Avenue South At Southold, from the Southeast comer of Hummel Ave and Boissean Ave, along the South side of Hummel Ave to the intersection of Hummel Ave and Young's Ave III. Severability. If an section or subsection, paragraph, clause, phrase or provision of this law shall be judge invalid or held unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, any judgment March 9, 2004 Public Hearing-Hummel Avenue 2 made thereby shall not affect the validity of this laxv as a whole or any part thereof other than the part or provision so adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional. I have a notification that this has appeared in the local newspaper, it has also appeared on the Town Clerk's bulletin board outside and I don't have any other communications in the file on this proposed Local law. SUPERVISOR HORTON: Thank you, Councilman Wickham. Would anyone care to address the Board on this specific public hearing? I took note that it said 'Preventing parking on one side to preserve the rural character of the neighborhood' and I think if you are really trying to preserve the rural character of the neighborhood, you let people park on the wrong side of the road.
