Permit Application #85-764-L2 (Reydon
Shores Property ~ners Association, Inc.)
Dear ~ls. Reebel:
The Department of State has completed its evaluation of your Federal Consis-
tency Assessment Form and certification that the above proposed permit activity
complies with New York State's approved Coastal Management Program, and will be
conducted in a manner consistent with this program.
Pursuant to 15 CFR Section 930.63, and based upon the project information
submitted, the Department of State concurs with your consistency certification
subject to the following conditions:
1. The initial dredging activity in the channel leading from the basin to
Southold Bay shall be limited to the southern 40 feet of that channel.
Except for the material resulting from the initial dredging activity,
dredged material shall be disposed along the beach east of the basin
channel, provided permission to do so is granted by the upland property
owner (Paradise Aqua Farms, Inc.). If the applicant's written request
for such permission is denied by the upland owner, then the dredged
material may be disposed in the manner stated in Public Notice No. 12442-
85-764-L2.
The above conditions are necessary to help restore the natural west-to east
sand flow which has been impeded by the existing jetty. Also, these conditions
will minimize erosion downdrift of the basin channel while having little or no
effect to the shoreline west of the channel.
This concurrence is without prejudice to, and does not obviate the need to
obtain all other applicable licenses, permits, and approvals required under
existing State statutes.
