Re presubmission inspection of property owned by Catharine R. Stimpson
and Elizabeth Wood at 495 Northfield Lane, Southold NY 11971.
Enc: (copy) Map of property, surveyed by R Van Tuyl P.C., January 18,
1984.
We wish to ask the advice of the Trustees as to what we can do and what
materials we can use to repair and replace existing bulkheads and retaining
walls and steps on our property, which we have owned since 1996. These
structures have decayed over the years since their installation in 1983-4 at
the time the property was developed.
We have consulted with Chris Pickerell about this matter and about our
continuing care of the fresh water pond which fills one-half of our
property and which attracts - and is home to - varied wildlife including
birds, ducks, visiting geese, snapping turtles, varieties of heron, muskrats
and other aquatic creatures. We are concerned to preserve the
environmental integrity and health of their habitat.
With the latter in mind, and concerned about the despoiling of this wetland
by road runoff, we hope also to raise with the Trustees the possibility of a
placing a dry well on the edge of our property to help drain Northfield
Lane where it runs down to the pond on our (northern) side of the road.
