Re: Hollowell Residence (permit no. 5512) (Request for permit modification) Dear Sirs, This letter is submitted to request a permit modification for the above referenced residence. On March 20, 2002, my clients received a permit from the Board of Trustees to construct an addition to and renovate their existing residence. A copy of that permit is enclosed. As you can see, the setback from the approximate water line of the permitted residence is 85'. Due to the complexities involved in expanding the existing residence, which included the necessity of obtaining variances from the Zoning Board of Appeals, my clients elected to pursue an alternate plan involving the construction of a new residence on the upland portion of the property and the removal of the existing residence. The new residence could be constructed pursuant to Town Code, DEC and Health Department codes without the need for any variances, More importantly, the new residence plan shows an abandonment of the old septic system with a new system to be installed over 110 feet landward of the old system. A copy of the survey showing the proposed residence and septic is also enclosed. The new residence has already received a permit from the Suffolk County Department of Health Services and the DEC. Copies of those permits are also enclosed. The construction of the new residence proposed on this parcel would not have required a permit from the Board of Trustees except for the fact that the existing residence, which will be removed, is located within Board of Trustees jurisdiction, Because the proposed new residence will have substantially less impact upon the wetlands than the previous expansion and renovation plan, my clients are respectfully requesting that the Board of Trustees amend the existing permit to allow for the removal of the existing residence in lieu of proceeding with the permit to construct the addition, . . . WHEREAS, Charles M. Thomas, Architect on behalf of Tim Hollowell applied to the Southold Town Trustees for a permit under the provisions ofthe Wetland Ordinance ofthe Town of Southold, application dated February 25, 2002 WHEREAS, said application was referred to the Southold Town Conservation Advisory Council for their findings and recommendations, and WHEREAS, a Public Hearing was held by the Town Trustees with respect to said application on March 20, 2002 at which time all interested persons were given an opportunity to be heard, and, WHEREAS, the Board members have personally viewed and are familiar with the prernises in question and the surrounding area, and, WHEREAS, the Board has considered all the testimony and documentation submitted concerning this application, and, WHEREAS, the structure complies with the standard set forth in Chapter 97-18 ofthe Southold Town Code. ~ . 2 .
