Dear Mr. Switzer:
The Board of Town Trustees took the following action during its regular meeting held on
Thursday, June 21, 200l regarding the above matter:
WHEREAS, HUGH K. SWITZER applied to the Southold Town Trustees for a pennit under
the provisions of the Wetland Ordinance of the Town of Southold, application dated May 29,
2001, and,
WHEREAS, said application was referred to the Southold Town Conservation Advisory Council
for their findings and recommendations, and,
WHEREAS, a Public Hearing was held by the Town Trustees with respect to said application on
June 21, 200l, at which time all interested persons were given an opportunity to be heard, and,
WHEREAS, the Board members have personally viewed and are familiar with the premises in
question and the surrounding area, and,
WHEREAS, the Board has considered all the testimony and documentation submitted
concerning this application, and,
WHEREAS, the structure complies with the standards set forth in Chapter 97 of the Southold
Town Code,
WHEREAS, the Board has detennined that the project as proposed will not affect the health,
safety and general welfare of the people ofthe town,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT,

RESOLVED, that the Board of Trustees approve the application of HUGH K. SWITZER to
demolish/remove the existing cottage that is within 6' of Goldsmith Inlet, and replace it with a
boat house that would be set back 70' from the Inlet, with the condition that there is a 20' non-
turfbuffer left between the Inlet and the demolition zone, and that hay bales be placed along the
wetland fringe during the demolition process.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this detennination should not be considered a detennination
made for any other Department or Agency, which may also have an application pending for the
same or similar proj ect.
Pennit to construct arid complete project will expire two years from the date it is signed. Fees
must be paid, if applicable, and pennit issued within six months of the date ofthis notification.
Two inspections are required and the Trustees are to be notified upon completion of said project.

CONSERVATION ADVISORY COUNCIL
At the meeting of the Southold Town Conservation Advisory Council held Tuesday,
June 12, 2001, the following recommendation was made:
Moved by Scott Hilary, seconded by Bill McDermott, it was
RESOLVED to recommend to the Southold Town Board of Trustees APPROVAL WITH
STIPULATIONS of the Wetland Permit Application of HUGH K. SWITZER 67-5-2 to
demolish/remove the existing cottage that is within 6' of Goldsmith Inlet, and replace it
with a boat house that would be set back 70' from the Inlet.
2700 Mill Rd., Peconic
The CAC recommends Approval with the Stipulation that the application allows the
buffer to re-stabilize itself into a 50' non-disturbance buffer and recommend that the
applicant does not continue to maintain/mow within the buffer area.

Dear Board of Trustees,
I request the Board to reject the application for the construction ofa "Boathouse," as per
the attached illustration.
My interpretation of existing zoning does not pennit the construction on this property.
Ifso granted I believe this variance would establish a negative precedence, by allowing
subsequent "variance request" for further encroachment of our remaining water and
woodlands and its supporting wild life habitats, our quality of life.
I tnlst the Board will exercise its entrusted Powers in its rejection of this applicant there
by ensuring fairness and stability by enforcing current zoning.
I was unsuccessful in my attempt to reach the applicant, as there exists a boathouse
approximately 100 feet north of the cottage-slated to be demolished. I'm perplexed as to
this need on this particular location, and as to its size, height restrictions etc.
