The proposed well and construction are very closed to Autumn Pond, a freshwater pond that provides drainage for a large catchment area. We believe that this construction is too close to this important freshwater wetland. and should therefore not be built. A sluice pipe runs between Autumn Pond and Goldsmith Inlet exactly in front of the proposed construction. The last time building took place on Second Avenue, the sluice pipe was damaged, and residents of the area eJCperienced significant flooding for many months. As heavy machinery will have to cross the pipe system for this proposed construction, it is likely, if not inevitable, that the pipe wUI again be damaged, resuiting again in significant flooding for the residents of Second Avenue, and for major Town expenditure to repair it.
