Dear Sir/Madam:
$outhold Town Clerk
I respectfully submit this letter requesting consideration by the
Planning Board a waiver of the current moratorium regarding land
divisions due to personal economic hardship.
My home in East Marion has been resided in by my family now for
five generations and, with your help, will be resided in for several
more. As the sole owner for the past ten years I have worked hard
to maintain this large property, taking on much of the manual labor
myself to offset the expenses of real estate taxes, maintenance
and capital improvements. I am the single mother of two young
children and am being crushed by increasing economic pressure
to maintain the property in its entirety. Real estate taxes continue
to spiral Recent increases in the Oysterponds school tax and the
proposed Suffolk County property tax outpace inflation by more
than SEVEN TIMES. The increases are overwhelming. I cannot
afford to keep pace with such increases. I intend to reduce my
maintenance expense and real estate tax burden through this land
division: 8 1/3 Acres into three separate lots.
I would Hke to hope that despite the division of the land, it may
not necessarily be developed. It is my practical view though that,
should I not aggressively pursue a division now, I will be unable
to sell a lot in the future if necessary to both ease my tax burden
and continue to maintain the existing residence.

RE: Kusa Subdivision
My property is not used for agriculture. My property
does not include woodlands or wetlands. My proposed lots are
perfectly suited for homesites.
My property is located in the heart of the hamlet of East Marion.
I am surrounded by smaller residential lots resided
in by second home owners. The large lot sizes I propose are
generous compared to the average of the other properties in the
surrounding hamlet. My proposed lot sizes are well above the
current zoning. Density is being encouraged by the Town in
hamlet areas. My proposal is very much in keeping with the
proposed future of residential development area in the Town.
I have lived conservatively, prioritizing the guardianship of the
family property. But my family's growing needs, property
maintenance costs and the real estate tax increases have
forced my hand. I will aggressively pursue this division to
protect my ability to continue to live here and to protect
the rights of my children.
Thank you for your kind time and attention in regard to
considering the hearing of this waiver.
