The owners obtained land from the State Park and then paved it over for an expanded parking lot. Was that park land already zoned for commercial usage? How come the owners could build the parking lot without review, especially when the ferry just 1000 feet down the road has been waiting for years in a similar situation? Will this set a precedent for the ferry? . . JUN 2 6 2000 The owners also "repaired" their marina harbor bulkhead. What they actually did was enlarge their basin, They dug back at least six feet back behind the old bulkhead, built a new bulkhead, then removed the old. Again with out permits. Shouldn't this have required something other than maintainance permits? When the parking lot was expanded, the driveway was also regraded. Now the entire run off from the parking area flows into the marina basin. This runoff will contain any oil or fluids dripping from the many cars parked there. Isn't this an environmental concern? As a concerned citizen, I feel this situation should be looked into. That is why a copy of this letter is being sent to the Southold Town Hall, The Suffolk Times, and the Orient Association. Maybe one of you can find out if everything was done properly, although at this time it appears that is not the case. Thankyou ill!
