DESCRIPTION OF HIGHWAY ABANDONED
PURSUANT TO ~205 OF THE HIGHWAY LAW
the undersigned Town Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Southold,
County o£ Suffolk, State of New York, hereby certify the following described portion
of a certain highway known as the Main Road and first laid out as a town highway in
1833j to wit:
BEGINNING at the intersection of the westerly line of Moore's Lane
with the northerly line of the "old highway~'j said point of beginning being the
southeasterly corner of land formerly of W. H. H. Moore Estate and now of the
Village of Greenport; from said point of beginning, running southerly on the direct
extension southerly of said westerly line of Moore's Lane, 11 feet, more or less,
to the northerly line of the Main Road as altered; thence westerly, along said
northerly line, 513 feet, more or less, to a point where said line intersects the
northerly line of said "old highway", said point being also the southwesterly cor-
ner of land of Mae T. Adams, and others; thence in a northeasterly direction,
along the northerly line of the "old highway", about 260 feet to the northeasterly
cornez~of said Adams' land; thence in a more easterly direction, and still along
the northerly line of the "old highway" and along said land formerly of the Moore
Estate, now o£ the Village of Greenport, 270 feet, more or less, to the point of
BEGINNING,
has not been opened or worked for more than six years last past, and that the same
has t~een abandoned by the public, and is no longer used as a public highway.
Also, we, the undersigned members of the Town Board, constituting the
whole or a majority thereof, do hereby consent to the making and filing of this
certificate, and do hereby sign the same.
Therefore, pursuant to §205 of the Highway Law, said described portion of
said highway is hereby declared to be and hereby is discontinued.

WHEREAS, the Town Superintendent of Highways with the consent of
the Town Board has certified to the abandonment of a portion of an old town
highway being generally west of Moore's Lane and north of the Main Road as
altered; and
WHEREAS~ buildings or parts of buildings and other structures have been
erected on the said abandoned highway and the Town has no longer any interest
therein, and the successors to the former owners and the present owners of the
land adjacent thereto have applied to the town for the release of said lands to
said former owners, ..
Now, Therefor, it is
RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and
directed to execute deeds quit-claiming the interest of the Town, if any, as
follow s:
~k) to the Village of Greenport: all that certain parcel of land near
the Village of Greenport, Town of Southold, County of Suffolk and State of New
York, bounded and described as follows: BEGINNING at the intersection of the
westerly line of Moore's Lane with the northerly line of the "old highway", said
point of beginning being the southeasterly corner of land formerly of W. H. H.
Moore Estate and now of the Village of Greenport; from said point of beginning
running southerly on the direct extension southerly of said westerly line of
Moore's Lane, 11 feet, more or less, to the northerly line of the Main Road as
altered; thence westerly, along said northerly line, 259 feet, more or less, to
a point on the southerly line of said "old highway"; thence northerly, across said
"old highway'~, 50 feet, more or less, to a point on said northerly line thereof
at the northeasterly corner of land formerly of Adams adjoining said land form-
erly of Moore Estate; thence easterly, along said land formerly of Moore Estate,
now of the Village of Greenport, and being along said northerly line of said "old
highway'u, 270 feet, m~e or less, to the point of beginning; containing 0.2 of an
acre, more or less;
B) to May Adams, also known as Mae T. Adams: all that certain
parcel of land near the Village of Greenport, Town of Southold, County of Suffolk
and State of New York, bounded and described as follows: BEGINNING at a point
on the northerly side of the Main Road as altered, distant westerly along the
northerly line of said Main Road as altered from a point marking the intersec-
tion of the westerly line of Moore's Lane and said northerly line of the Main
Road, as altered, about 515 feet, and running thence northeasterly, along the
northerly line of the "old highway': about 260 feet to land of the Village of
Greenport, formerly of William H. H. Moore; thence southerly, across said
"old highway", 50 feet, more or less, to a point on the northerly line of the Main
Road as altered; thence in a westerly direction, along the northerly line of the
Main Road as altered, about 225 feet to the point or place of BEGINNING.
