Ferguson Museum has recently received notae from the Southbold Town Board of Trustees concerning your application to construct a 100 ' fixed dock extending east into Fishers Island Sound from your property. From a survey map provided with the notice, it appears that this dockwi11 he angled so as to occupy the coastal waters imine iately in front of the Museum' s wildlife sanctuary area whic1 includes Block 25, Lot 6 to the southeast of your property. . 1 I would also note that the survey map indicates that your lawn and landscaped area encroaches on the Museum' s sanc uary area to a significant extent . While the Museum: granted to you, through your husband, permission to permit certain trees on the Museum' s property Planed by the prior owner to remain, it was also our Inde standing that landscaping on the Museum' s property would be done to return the area of encroachment to its natural state . 'The Museum wished to be a good neighbor, but feels that the encroachment by your lawn area and the negative aesthetic and possibly detrimental environmental effect of 1 I I Ps . ' We would appreciate hearing from you as to whether the dock could be either made shorter or angled so that it extends in front of your property, rather than the Museum' s . V•:e would also appreciate your thoughts as to how to mitigate the &pparent encroachment of lawn and landscaped area on the Museim' s property, which appears to exceed 30 ' by a sign ficarit margin.
