Box 1179 Southold, New York 11971 Telephone (516) 765-18'/2 Fax (516) 765-1823 BOARD OF TOWN TRUSTEES TOWN OF SOUTHOLD June 24, 1999 Mr. Robert Herrmann En-Consultants, Inc. 1329 North Sea Road Southampton, NY 11968 Re: SCTM#lO-lO-8.l Dear Mr. Herrmann: The following action was taken by the Board of Town Trustees during its regular meeting held on June 23, 1999 regarding the above matter: WHEREAS, En-Consultants, Inc. on behalf of JOHN SKI applied to the Southold Town Trustees for a permit under the provisions of the Wetland Ordinance of the Town of Southold, application dated November 23, 1998 and, WHEREAS, said application was referred to the Southold Town Conservation Advisory Council for their findings and recommendations, and, WHEREAS, a Public Hearing was held by the Town Trustees with respect to said application on June 23, 1999, at which time all interested persons were given an opportunity to be heard, and, WHEREAS, the Board members have personally viewed and are familiar with the premises in question and the surrounding area, and, WHEREAS, the Board has considered all the testimony and documentation submitted concerning this application, and, WHEREAS, the structure complies with the standard set forth in Chapter 97 and Chapter 37-18 of the Southold Town Code, WHEREAS, the Board has determined that the project as proposed will not affect the health, safety and general welfare of the people of the town, . . NOW THEREFORE BE IT, RESOLVED, that the Board of Trustees grant a Wetland Permit and Coastal Erosion Permit to JOHN SKI to place fill along 93' +/- of eroded shoreline and stabilize it by seeding with a fast-growing rye, and, existing gravel road to be maintained by periodic addition of gravel. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this determination should not be considered a determination made for any other Department or Agency which may also have an application pending for the same or similar project. Permit to construct and complete project will expire two years from the date it is signed. Fees must be paid, if applicable, and permit issued within six months of the date of this notification. Box 1179 Southold, NY 11971 Re: John Ski SCTM#lOOO-IO-IO-8.1 œ Œ 0 ..!\7 ~"~ lit 3 - 9~ 'II) OF SDutfi : I j Ladies and Gentlemen: I am John Ski's neighbor to the east on Fishers Island, and am writing in connection with his application for a permit for a stone revetment, of which I received notice from En-Consultants Inc. dated November 18. My wife and I have no objection to the proposed revetment. We note that it is proposed to extend to our property line at the high tide mark. We do not mind if the work extends slightly onto our property near the water, so long as it does not affect our boathouse and its deck about 4-5 feet east of the property line. I am concerned about the included proposal to maintain the existing gravel road by periodically adding gravel, but only because the location of the road is wrong on the sketch. In fact, the road originally was partly on our property near the top of the slope. Mr. Ski kindly moved it after we had the line surveyed, but I believe it still comes within a foot or so of the line, as I have tried to indicate by pink highlighting on the enclosed copy of Mr. Ski's sketch. We cannot grant Mr. Ski a boundary-line adjustment in this area since our lot is already too small for the zone and our use nonconforming. We have no objection to Mr. Ski maintaining and gravelling the present road assuming, as we do, that it does not now encroach. However, improvements to the road could easily cause encroachment, which is not clearly shown on the sketch. We wish to place on record that the road is much closer to the line than the sketch indicates and that we do not consent to any encroachment that may result from maintaining the road. We trust the permit granted will make it clear that work on the road must not cause or increase any encroachment onto our property there.
