Martocch-ia, 16 South Street, Gree~port, New York, at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 26, 1974, with the following present: Supervisor Albert M. Martocchia Councilman James H. Rich, Jr. Councilman James Homan Justice Martin Suter Justice Louis M. Demarest .Town Attorney Robert W. Tasker Highway Superintendent Raymond C. Dean · ~erk Albert W. Richmond Absent: Justice Francis T. Doyen On motion of Councilman Rich, seconded by Councilman Homan, i~ was RESOLVED that the minutestof February 8, 1974 be and they hereby are approved. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan,Justice Sute~, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Suter, seconded by Justice Demarest, it was RESOLVED that the next meeting of the Southold Town Board will be held at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 12, 1974 at the office of Supervisor Albert M. On motion of Councilman Homan, seconded by Justice Su~er, it was P~ESOLVED that the January 1974 report of the Fishers Island Ferry District be accepted by the Southold Town Board and placed on file. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman ~ich, Councilman Homan, Justice Su~er, JUs~i~ce Demarest.. On motion of Justice Suter, Bec~nded by Councilman Rich, it was RESOLVED t~at Ter~ance K~s~an, d~reCtor of youth activities and director of the narcotic'council for Southcld Town be granted permission to maintain a $50.00 petty cash fund. Ail charges against this fun~d must be p~esented on a voucher to replenish same. Vote of the ~own~'Board:-~Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Surer, Justice Demarest. On motion of Councilman Homan, seconded by Councilman ~ich, it was RESOLVED that the Southold Town Board authorized payment of $1,200.00 to Elaine F. Kaldor, Certified Publi.c~ Accountant, contractor fo~ audit o~ the~b0oks and record~ of officers and employees of the Town of Southold for the fiscal year 1973. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: ~Supervisor Martocchia, CouncLlman Rich, Councilman ~oman, Justice Suter, Justice.Demarest. On motion of Justice Demarest, seconded by Councilman Rich, it was RESOLVED that ~arbara A~d~ade be and she hereby is appointed Court Clerk of the ToWn of Southold, effective February 26, 1974, at a salary of $4.00 per hour. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes:~uperuisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. On motion of Councilman Homan, seconded by Justice Suter, it was RESOLVED tha~ Barb~ra Dittmann be and she hereby is appointed Court Clerk, Town of Southold, eff3ective Februar~ ~6; 19~4, a~ a salary of $4.00 per hour. ~ Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Surer, Justice Demarest. Moved by Councilman Rich, seconded by Justice Demarest, it was RESOLVED that the Southold Town Board authorize payment of $1,000.00 to Steven Techet for legal services, provided such bill is placed on a proper Town voucher. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Suter, seconded by Councilman ~ich, WHEREAS Zdzislaw Mekalojczyk has applied to the Town Board for a single trailer renewal permit dated January 15, t974, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the application of Zczislaw Me~alojczyk to locate a single-trailer on his property at John~ Road, east side Main Road, Mattituck, New York, be and hereby is granted for a six (6) month period. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor,Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Suter, seconded by Councilman Homan, WHEREAS John Tuthill applied to the Town Board for a single trailer renewal permit dated February 21, 1974, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the application of John Tuthill to locate a single trailer on his property at the east side of Elijah's Lane, Mattituck, New York, be and hereby is granted for a six month period. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Councilman Rich, seconded by Justice Suter, WHEREAS Sophie Saunders applied to the Town Board for a single trailer renewal permit dated March 6, 1974, NOW,- THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the application of Sophie Saunders to locate a single trailer on her property at Main Road, Laurel, New York, be and hereby is granted for a period of six (6) months. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homart, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Suter, seconded by Councilman Rich, WHEREAS Edmund Bokina applied to the Town Board for a single trailer permit for farm labor, application dated February 25, 1974, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the application of Edmund Bokin5 to locate a single trailer on leased land on the Main Road, Laurel, New York, for housing farm labor be and hereby is granted' for a peri6d beginning J~n~a~y 1974 through November 1, 1974, subject to the approval of the Board of Appeals under Section 300, Subsection B, 8(-a~. Vote of~the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Councilman Homan, seconded by Justice Suter, WHEREAS W. Edgar Worthington applied to th~ Town Board for a single trailer reqewal permit dated Januar~ 15, 1974, NOW, T~EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the application of W. Edgar Worthington to locate a single trailer on his property at the south side of Sound Avenue, Mattituck, New York, b~ and hereby is granted for a period of s~x (6) months. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. On motion of Councilman Rich, seconded by Councilman Homan, it was RESOLVED that the Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Southold be authorized to advertise for bids and to purchase from the lowest responsible bidder, 500,000 gallons of Asphalt Road Materi~ls, more or less as may be needed, for the repairs of Town Highways. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman ~ich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Councilman Homan,;>~9~nd~bYi Councilman Rich, it was RESOLVED that th~ Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Southold be authorized to aduertise for bids and to purchase from the lowest responsible bidder, 10,000 gallons, more or less as may be needed,for the Highway Department and Disposal Area, of Diesel Fuel. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Surer, Justice Demarest. On ~otion of Justice Demarest, seconded by Justice~Suter, it was RESOLVED that the Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Southold be authorized to advertise for bids and to purchase from the lowest responsible bidder, the following: One New Mobil Sweeper, 1974, Model TE 4 (or equal) without any trade-in. ~ Vote of the Town Board: ~ Ayes: SuPervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Suter~ seconded by Justice Demarest, it w~ RESOLVED that the Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Southold be authorized to advertise for bids and to purchase from the lowest responsible bidder, the following: One (1) New 1974 four-door Sedan with trade-in allowance on a 1970 Pontiac Executive 4-dr. Hardtop. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. On motion of Justice Suter, seconded by Councilman Homan, it was RESOLVED that George Lessard, Mattituck, New York, be recommended for appointment as a Fire Coordinator for the Town of Southold. Charges for installing a radio and other equipment in his car shall be a legal charge against the Town of Southold. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Demare~t, seconded by Justice Suter, it was RESOLVED that Supervisor Albert M. Martocchia be and he hereby is authorized to sign the necessary papers for AN ACT, Senate Bill No. S-958-A, To Amend the highway law, in relation to the transfer of a certain village stree and town highway in the county of Suffolk to the state and transfer of a certain s~ate highway to the county of Suffolk. (The State would~bandon to Suffolk County a part of State Highway 1719 (Touring Route 114), in the Village of Greenport, and would add to the ~tate Highway System a portion of Touring Route 25 in the vicinity of the Village of Greenport lying between State Highway 1719 and State Highway 8380.) Vo~eof the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocc~ia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, .Justice Demarest. Robert Reeves, Jr., President of the Southold Town Fire Chief's Council read a letter to the Southold Town Board (copy on file ~n the Town Clerk's Office) recommending that Southold Town adopt a Fire Precention~and Safety Code. Mrs. Jean Tiedke suggested that the Town Board purchase, for preservation purposes, property in Southold Town in recognition of the 1976 BiCentennial celebration. Mr. Willard Lawrence, Town Historian, advised the Town Board that preparations have begun on the 1976 BiCentennial celebration. On motion of Justice Suter, seconded by Councilman Homan, it was RESOLVED that this Town Board meeting be adjourned at 4:05 P.M.
