The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Henryi~.~ Tuthill
at Greenport, New York, on October 25, 1960, The meeting was-.called
to order at 7:30 P.M. with the following,present: Supervisor Tuthill;
Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and.Clark~,.S~pt.
of Highways Price; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Richmond..
At 7:30 P.m. in accordance with the notice? published , according, to
law, bids were opened for proposals to furnish to the Town of Southold
police uniforms. Only one bid was submitted which was by the Calub
Smith & Sons Inc.. The Board reserved decision until Chief Otto Anrig
could examine the bid and consideration oft he bid would be taken, up
at a later date.
The Supervisor opened the public hearing on_the application of the
Mattituck Council %34 Jr~ Order United American Mechanics for%a change
of Zone from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B" Business
District and the application of Frank Pumillo for a changeof zonei
from "A" Agricultural & REsidential District to "~" Business District
on the remainder of his ~roperty located southerly from an e~i~ting
"B" BUsiness-District, M~ttituck, New York, The minutes of the hearing
were recorded by Judith Boken.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: ,
RESOLVED: That the Southold Board of Appeals, Planning Board, Building
Inspector and Secretary be and hereby are authorized to attend the
~oning ~onvention to be held Saturday, December 10, 1960, at the Inter-
national Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Building on Pinelawn Road,
Huntington, N.Y. and be it ,further
RESOLVED: That the necessary expenses of $7.50 for each me~ber while
attending said Convention be a legal charge against the Town.

RESOLVED: That the minutes ofthe meeting of October 10, 1960, be and

RESOLVED: That the-regular monthly meeting of the Town Board will be
held ~k the office of Supervisor Henry H. Tuthill, 16 South street,
Greenport, N.Y. on Thursday, November 10, 1960, at 1:30 P.M.

and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That a public Hearing on the question of granting a Franchise
to the Village of Greenport to erect and maintain electric power lines
in School District No. 10 be held in the Supervisor's Office, 16 South
Street, Greenport, N.Y. on Thursday, November 10, 1960] at 7:30 P.M.
and that the Town Clerk cause a notice of said hearing to be published
in the Long Island Traveler-Mattituck Watchman at least ten days
prior to said hearing.

RESOLVED: That Harold D. Priee, Supt. of Highways, be and he t~reby
is authorized and directed to enter into a contract with George W.
Smith & Sons to reroof the west barn of the Highway;~ Department, the
sum not to exceed $684.00.

RESOLVED: That inasmuch as the required d~dicatiOn and release have
been d~ received, map of same duly filed and the necessary papers
signed, that the TOWn Bbard take over and maintain as public highways
FISHERS ROAD and FRED STREET, situated at New Suffolk, Town of Southold,
S~ff61k Co%~n~ty, New York.

Moved by Councilman Demarest~ seconded by Justice clark:
WHEREAS, George Alec by petition verified on August ~, 1960~ petitioned
the Town Board ~or a change of zone of certain real property described
in said petition from "A" Residential & Agric~itural District to
"C" Industrial District and
WHEREAS, the said petition was refmrred to the Planning Board for its
official reco~endation and rreport and
WHEREAS, the Planning Board has filed its official report with the Town
Board, and
WHEREAS, athe Town Board pursuant to due notice thereof, held a hearing
on said petition on October 4, 1960, at which time all interested persons
were given an opportunity to be heard,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the relief demanded in said petition
of GeOrge Alec be and the same is in all respects denied.

Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Albertson:
WHEREAS, Mattituck Council %~4 Jr. Order United American Mechanics
by petition verified the 10th day of September, 196~, petitioned the
Town Board for a change of zone on certain real property described in
said petition from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B"
Business District, and
WHEREAS, ~the petition was referred to the Planning Board for its official
recommendation and report, and
WHEREAS, the TOWn Board pursuant to due notice thereof held a hearing
on said petition on October 25, 1960, at which time all interested
persons were given an opportunit~ to be heard,
Now, therefore, be it resolved; That the So%~old Town Building Zone
Ordinance, including the Southold Building Zone Maps, be amended by
changing from "A" Residential and Agricultural' District to_"B"
Business District the following described property:
ALL that certain tract or ~arcel of land situated at Mat~ituck, in the
Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, and mor~particularly bound-
ed and described as follow~:
Parcel 1. Northerly by the highway, easterly by the burying ground,
southerly by lan~ formerly owned by the First Methodist Episcopal
Church of Mattituck, westerly by land now or formerly owned~kMrs.
Martha Hazard being fifty feet ~ more or less in front and rear and
75 feet deep, and being the same premises conveyed to The First Meth-
odist Church of Mattituck by deed recorded in the office of the Clerk
of Suffolk County in Liber 78 of Deeds page 330 and also in Liber 456
of deeds at page 393.
Parcel II. Northerly by land formerly owned by the First Methodist
E~ Episcopal Church of Mattituck 54 feet, easterly by the Mattituck
Free Cemetery grounds 55 feet, southerly by the Mattituck Free Cemetery
grounds 54 feet, and westerly by the roadway leading into_t~e cemetery
grounds 55 feet, being ~he same premises conveyed to the First Methodist
Episcopal Church of Mattituckby deed dated May 29, 1897 and recorded

in the office of said ~ounty Clerk in Liber 458 of Deeds at page.2~
on June 1, 1897 being part of the same premises conveyed to the Brooklyn
Church Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church by deed recorded in
the office of the Clerk of Suffolk County in Liber 955 ofDee~s page
560 on-the 4th day of October 1917 referred to in said deed as Par~l 1
and Parcel 2.
The report of HOWard M. Terry, Building Inspector, on attendance
at the meeting of the New York State Conference of
held at Latham, New York,~ on October 7, 1960, was read and ~
on file.
Action b~ the Town Board on the petition 6f Frank Pumillo for a chamge
of zone is postponed to a later ~ate.
