Dear Building Inspectors,
It has been determined that the ongoing renovation at the McGinn Residence is
more than fifty percent of the dwelling; and according to Appendix"J" would be
described as an 'extensive alteration'.
All 'nev✓ work will comply with the 2003 building code revisions.
The second floor master bedroom fireplace is being converted to a gas only
fireplace.
I hope this clarifies ny outstanding questions.

Dear Building Inspectors,
The second floor fireplace has been converted to a gas appliance using a VWG
series by Monessen Hearth Systems. The unit is certified as a decorative appliance to
the ANSI 221.60 standard. The unit is installed to all manufacturers' specifications.
The appliance is supplied with outside make up air which allows it to comply with
G 240.6.2 (303.3) of the New York State Building Code.
Gas appliances do not require the same hearth extensions as a wood burning
fireplace does. The a isting hearth complies with the requirements of a gas appliance.
