The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Henry H.
Tuthill at Greenport, on Tuesday, July 12, 1960. The meeting was
called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor
Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and
Clark; Supt. of Highways Price; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk-
Richmond.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthitl:
RESOLVED: That the regular month~ly meeting of the Southold Town Board
be held at the office of Supervisor Henry H. Tuthill, 16 South-Street,
Greenport, N.Y..on Tuesday, August 9, 1960, at 1:30 P.M.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson
and Demarest; JusticesTuthill and Clark.
Frank Rogers, Corwin Grathwohl and Curtis W. Horton, Commissioners
of Cutchogue-New Suffolk Park District, appeared before the Town
Board stating they had two parcels of land in ~ind fDr a Park in~-the
District--(a) Nassau Point Causeway and (b) Property of Walter Grabie
on the Cove. They asked the Town Board for their opinion on ~which
location,would be the best for them to acquire, as roads and parking
facilities were of great importance to the Park. After much discussion
it was the opinion of the Board that the Nassau Point Causway would
be the most desirable as a parking lot could be made large enough
to accommodate the cars for the area of the beach.
Mrs. Ethel Listing appeared before the Board protesting the denial
of the trailer permit. After much discussion, the Board felt that it
could not change its decision due to the insufficient lot area.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
WHEREAS, John Billman has applied to the Town Board for a single
trailer permit by application dated June 20, 1960,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of John Biltman
to locate a single trailer on his Mother's property in East MArion,
New York, be and hereby is denied on grounds that there is insuffic-
ient ground area.

RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting of June 21,1960, be and--t~ey
hereby are duly approved as read.

RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting of July 5, 1960, be and they
hereby are duly approved as read.

Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That the new application of John Billman for a permit to
locate a trailer on a two acre lot in the rear of the Vail property
west side of Truman Path, East Marion, N.Y~ be and hereby is granted
for a 2½ month period from this'date.

RESOLVED: That Bond No. 816321, issued by Glens Falls Insurance
Company in the sum of $1,000.00 on behalf of'Theodore B. Howard,
Police Office, (Constable) be and the same is hereby approved as to
its form, manner of execution and sufficiency~of sureties therein.

RESOLVED: That the pay rate establishedfor life guard, Town of
Sou. thold, be fixed at $1.50 per hour and the pay rate of the assistant
life guard be fixed at $1.25 per hour, payable bi-weekly.

W~EREAS, the Planning Board has recommended that the filing fee of
$25.00 of .Stephen Hornick for application to the Planning Board be
returned for reason that said application was withdrawn by the applic=
ant and no hearing or other action was taken by the Board on said
application,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Supervisor Tuthill be and he
hereby is authorized and directed to return to Stephen Hornick the
sumof %$25.00 which accompanied the application.

WHEREAS, a letter was received from the Southold Town Planning
Board, John Wickham Chairman, protesting assessments on farm proper-
ty loCated on the water,
BE IT RESOLVED: that a copy of this letter be forwarded to the Board
of Assessors.

Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
WHEREAS, a petition was received from Alexander Bloom, Main Road,
Laurel, New York, requesting a change of zone of certain property
described in said petition from "A" Residential and Agricultural
District to "B" Business District,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk of the TOWn of
Southold be and he is hereby directed to transmit this application
to the Planning Board in accordance with Section 901, S%%bdivision C
of ARticle lX of the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of
Southold, Suffolk County, New York.

The Planning Board forwarded to the Tewn. Board the petition of Mary
E. and Marguerite E'. Scholtz, Laurel, L.I., for a change of zone
from "A" Residential and AGricultural District to "B" Business District
on certain real property situated at Laurel, L.I.,N.¥.. The Planning
Board recommends that the Town Board, on its own motion, change from
"A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B" Business District
the property of Mary E. & Marguerite E. Scholtz and include all prop-
erty from Aldrich Lane west to and including the Eastern T V Business
owned by Edward Scholtz and also including the sand pit operation
located northeasterly from the Main Road. It was recommended that
this be turned o~er to Otto W. VanTuyl & Son for a more complete
description of the area in the recommended change.

RESOLVK~: That the Superintendent of Highways, Town of Southold, be
and he hereby is authorized to purchase road signs for the Town roads,
the sum not to exceed $990.00.

RESOLVR~: That the Police report for the month of June be accepted
by the Town Board and placed on ~ile.

RESOLVED: That Harold Price, Superintendent of Highways, be and he
hereby is authorized to advertise for bids to sell one used crane own-
ed by the Town of Southold.

RESOLVWn: That General Bills in the amount of $5,271.22; Lighting District
Bills in the amount of $2,085.39; Fishers Island Ferry District bills
in the amount of $12,027..74 be and the same are hereby ordered paid.

WHEREAS, in accordance with a letter,received and dated July¥1~,~1960,
a request was ~ade fpr t~e .~rc~ase~pf Sachets, pants and unlined
jackets for the Auxiliary Police,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Supervisor Henry H. Tuthill be
and he hereby is authorized to purchase ja=~ets, pants andunline~
jackets for use by the Auxiliary Police of Town of Southold T~,-the
sum not to exceed $696.00. ~--~

RESOLVED: That the report of Howard M. Terry, Building Inspector, on
attendance at a meeting of Conference of Mayors in Rochester, N.Y.
which he-read be accepted_ by the Town Board.a~d~ placed on file.
