Tuthill at Greenport, on May 24, 1960. The meeting was called to order
at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Tuthilt; Council-
men Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark; supt. of High-
ways Price; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Richmond.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting of May 10, 1960, be and they
hereby are duly approved as read.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; COuncilmen Albertson and
Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Justice Clark; secondedby Councilman Albertson:
RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of the Town Board be
held at the office of the Supervisor, 16 South Street, Greenport, N.Y.
on Tuesday, June 7, 1960, at 1:30 P.M.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson~and
Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That SuperviSDm Tuthill be and hereby is authorized to have
installed a new water pump at Town Beach in Arshamomaque, at a cost
not to'exceed $200.00.

Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Councilman_Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
WHEREAS, Elizabet~is the owner of certain real property including
a bathing beach and parking field adjacent to ~econic Bay at New
Suffolk, in the Town of SouthQl~, Suffolk County, New York, which said
property is generally bounde~y~Jackson Street; easterly by First
Street; southerly by Peconic Bay, and westerly by Second Street, and
WHEREAS, the said Elizabeth Olsen has offered to lease to the Town of
Southold all of said described property except such portions thereof
upon which are located three dwelling houses, a restaurant building,
and a refreshment stand and/or building for a term of four months
from June 1, 1960, to October 1, 1960, for the total rent of Six
Hundred Dollars ($600.00) upon the condition that the said ~Elizabeth
Olsen be given the right to operate the refreshment stand located
upon said premises,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: that the Town of Southold lease from
the said Elizabeth Olsen the following described real property:
ALL that certain tract, piece or parcel of land, situate, lying and
being at New Suffolk, Town of Southold, County of Suffolk, State of
New York, generally bounded and described as follows: Northerly by
Jackson Street; 225 feet, more or less~ easterly by First Street, 250
feet, more or less; southerly by Peconic Bay, 225 .feet, more or less;
and westerly by Second Street, 200 feet, more or less. Excepting from
the demises premises the following:
(a) That portion of said premises at the northwest corner thereof
upon which is erected two dwelling buildings~ said parcel having
a frontage of 100 feet, more or less, on Jackson Street~ and 90 feet
more or less, on Second Street.
(b) That portion of said premises at the northeast corner thereof
upon which is erected a dwelling house and a restaurant, s~id parcel
having a frontage on Jackson Street, of 55 feet, more or less, and
a frontage on First Street of 220 feet, more or less.
(c) The cottage and/or refreshment building located on ~the southerly
portion of the demised premises-, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Town of Southold lease said premises
upon the following terms and conditions:
(a) That the term of said lease shall be for the period of four months
to commence on the first day of June, 1960 and to end on the first day
of October, 1960
(b) That the total rent shall be Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) to be
paid upon the execution of the lease as hereinafter provided.
(c) That the said Elizabeth Olsen shall pay all real property taxes
assessed on said property during the term of said lease.
(d) That the said Elizabeth Olsen covenant and agree to keep the demised
premises clean and free from litter during the term of the lease.
(e) That the said Elizabeth Olsen be given the right to operate the
refreshment stand located on the premises during the term of the lease,
and
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Supervisor be and he
hereby is authorized and directed to execute any and all leas~s~ and
other documents required to affect such purposes.

WHEREAS, the COmmissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District wish
to enter into a bareboat charter for. the use of the MV Yankee with
:~he:~n~ate Navigation 'company for a period commencing at 7:00
AM on May 16, 1960 and shall end at 7:00 AM on May 18, 1960, except-
ingi however, that at the request of the charterer, it may be further
extended in all its forms and agreements, such extension to end on or
before noon on May 23, 1960, at a lump sum minimum payment of $400.00
to cover the first ~two (2) days charter, and if the charterer shall
elect to continue the charter thereafter it shall ~ay the owner at
the rate of $175.00 per day for each additional day or part thereof,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Board approves
the action of the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District,
on entering into the contract as above stated with the Ineerstate
Navigation Company.

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Tuthill be requested to contact the Depart-
ment of Public Works, Babylon, N.Y. as to the drainage of water
from the Main Street in Southold Village from Youngs Avenue East.

Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Councilman Demarest:
WHEREAS, a letter was received from Gilbert Miner and John Kaelin
requesting a change of zone of certain property on west side of Youngs
Avenue, Southold, described in said letter from "C" Industrial District
to "A" Residential and Agricultural District, and
WI{EREAS, they understood that it was not the intention of the Zoning
Commission to have their properties and homes included in the adjoin-
ing Industrial District, but came about by an error in printing the
original map,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Clerk be and
he hereby is authorized and directed to instruct the Southold Town
Planning Board by a written request tp prepare an official report
defining the conditions and determine the area affected with the
recommendations on the question of the Town Board's proposal to amend
the Southold Town Building Zone Ordinance and Building Zone Maps by
placing the property hereinafter described in the "A" REsidential
and Agricultural District.

northeasterly corner of the existing C Industrial Zone and running
thence southerly along the westerly line of Railroad or Youngs Avenue
about 142 feet to land of L.I. Produce & Fertilizer Co.; thence
along l~nd of the last described owner, two courses, as follows:
(1) westerly about 330 feet; thence (2) northerly about 130 feet to
land of George R. Jennings EState; thence easterly along land of said
George R. Jennings Estate and then along land of Averette, a ~Otal
distance of about 335 feet to the point of beginning.

W~EREAS, a petition was received from ~tephen Hornick requesting a
change of zone of certain af-~property situate in Skippers Lane
at Orient, N.Y. more fully described in said petition from "A"
Residential and Agricultural District to "M" Multiple Residence Dist.,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk of the Town Of
Southold be and he is hereby directed to transmit this petition to
the Planning Board in accordance with Section 901, Subdivision C
of Article 1X of the Building Zone Ordinance Of the Town of Southold.

W~EREAS, the Fire Department of Greenport, has applied to the Town
Clerk for a Bingo L~cense and
WHEREAS, ~ the Town Board has examined the application and after in-
vestigating the matter, duly made findings'and determinations as
required by law,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby
is authorized and directed to execute on behalf of this Board the
findings and determinations required by law, and it is further
RESOLVRD: That the Tow~ Clerk be and he hereby is directed to issue
a Bingo License to the Greenport Fi~e Department.

WHEREAS, the Town Board has recommended that the filing fee in the
sum of $25.00, which accompanied the application of Frank Pumillo
for a trailer camp, be returned to Frank Pumillo for the reason
that trailer camps are not allowed in "A" Residential and Agricultural
Districts or Business Districts,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Supervisor Henry H. Tuthill be
and he hereby is authorized and directed to return to Frank Pumillo
the sum of $25.00.

WHEREAS, the Town Board is advised that the Suffolk County Civil
Service Commission is or proposes to hold examinations to fill the
position of sergeant to be employed as a Southold Town Constable an d
W~EREAS, the Town 'Board of the Town of $outhold heretofore created
the office of Sergeant (Constable) and such office is presently
filled by Theodore Howard and therefore no vacancy exists
NOW, ~EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor of the Town of
Southold be and hereby is authorized and directed to notify the Suffolk
County Civil Service commission that no vacancy exists in the office
of Police Sergeant in the Town of Southold.

WHEREAS, the Supt. of Highways has requested that he be authorized
to purchase 12 pre-cast rings for water drainage,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supt. of Highways be and he
hereby is authorized tO~ purchase said?pre-cast rings.

Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That Albert W. Richmond, Town Clerk of the Town of Southold,
be and hereby is authorized to attend Town Clerk School in Ithaca,
Cornell University, N.Y. June 27, 28 and 29, 1960 and be it further
RESOLVED: That the necessary expenses incurred while attending said
school be~a legal charge against the Town.
