HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-01/26/1960MEETING OF JANUARY 26, 1960. The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Henry Tuthill at Greenport, on Tuesday, January 26, 1960. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Tuthitl; C©uncilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark; Supt. of. Highways Price; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Richmond. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting of January 5, 1960, ~nd~ Special meeting of January 13, 1960 be and hereby are duly approved asread. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Mo~ed by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: WHEREAS, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas LaColla have applied to the Town Board for a single Trailer permit NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of Mr. &Mrs. L~Colla to locate a single trailer on their property on Main Road, approximately 1000 feet east of Mill Creek Bridge, Greenport, be and hereby is granted for a year around occupancy for a two year period. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. - Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That Bond N0. SM178 276-4, issued by the American Motorists Insurance Company on behalf of Henry Brewster Faucon in the sum of $500.00 be and the same is hereby approved as to its form, manner of execution and sufficiency of sureties therein. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That Supervisor Tuthill be and hereby is authorized to secure and obtain liability insurance coverage for all agents, em- ployees and public officials of Town of Southold in an amount of not less than~00,000 for bodily injury in respect to any person and $300,000 in respect to any one occurrence and $20,000 property damage. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That Supervisor Tuthill be and hereby is authorized to purchase an IBM Electric Typewriter for the use of the secretary to the Board of Appeals, the cost of said machine not to exceed $415.00. vote of Town 'Board: Ayes-SupervisorI~T~thill; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Albertson: RESOLVED: That Howard Terry, Building Inspector, be hereby author- ized to attend Eastern States Building Inspector School February 18 to 20, 1960, and be it further, RESOLVED: That the necessary expenses incurred while attending said school be a legal charge against the Town. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That Albert Richmond ,Town Clerk, be and hereby is authorized to purchase two 5 lb. CO fire extinguishers for the Southold Town Clerk's Office. 2 Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill, Councilmen Alhertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: WHEREAS, the Town Board by resolution thereof duly adopted on the 5th of January, 1960, determined on its own motion, to amend the Southold Town Building Zone Ordinance, including the Build- ing Zone Maps, by changing from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "C" Industrial District the property hereinafter described and WHEREAS, a copy of said resolution was transmitted to the Planning Board by the Town Clerk who in writing requested the Planning Board to prepare its official report and recommendation pursuant to Article lX Section 901 of the Building Zone Ordinance, and WHEREAS, SAID Planning Board has prepared and filed said official report with its recommendations, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Board of the Town of Southold hold a public hearing on the 16th day of Feb. 1960, at 2:00 P.M.' at the Supe~visor's Office, 16 South Street, Green- port, N.Y. on the~uestion of amending the Building Zone Ordinance, including the Building Zone Maps as follows: 1. By changing from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "C" Industrial District the following: ALL that certain tract or parcel of land situated at Mattituck, in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, and more particularly bounded and described as follows: Beginning at a monument on the southerly line ©f Mill Road at the northwesterly corner of land of Frederick R. Ketcham and the northeasterly.corner of land of Maurice Galburt; from said point of Beginning running along said southerly line of Mill Road, 3 courses, as follows: (1) N. 730 52' 30" E. - 39.22 feet; thence(2) S. 82° 01' 10" E. -138.46 feet; thence (3) S.53° 23' E. 77.64 feet to the present boundary line of the "B" Business District; thence along said boundary line, 2 courses, as follows: (1) S. 14° 00' E. -400.00 feet; thence (2) S. 84° 00' E. 150 feet, more or less, to MattituckCreek; thence southerly along said Mattituck Creek, 1000 feet, more or less, to the northerly line of Lot P as shown on "Map of Shore Acres", filed in the Suffolk County Clerk's Office as Map No. 41; thence westerly along said Lot P, 300 feet, more or less; thence through lands of Frederick R. Ketcham, 3 courses, as follows: (1) N. 11° 50' E. 720 feet, more or less; thence (2) N. 8° 15' W. 435 feet; thence (3) N 53° 23' W. -165 feet to a monument on the boundary line between said land of 8rederick R. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Clerk be and he hereby is authorizmd and directe~d to cause a notice of said hearing to be published in the Suffolk T~mes, a paper of general circulation in said Town at least 10 days prior to said hearing, said notice to specify the time and place of said hearing. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: WHEREAS, a petition was received from George G. Bailey, requesting a change of zone of certain property described in said petition, from "A" Residential and A~ricultural District to "B" Business District, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk of the Town of Southold be and he is hereby directed to transmit this application to the Planning Board in accordance with Section 901, Subdivision C of Article lX of the Building Kone Ordinance of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York. Moved by Councilman Atbertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: WHEREAS, Mr. John Wickham appeared before the Southold Town Board to discuss the seriousness of Golden Nematode on Eastern Long Island and requested that some financial assistance by the Town of Southold toward eradication of Golden Nematode would be a great help in this program~ THEREFORE,. after discussion with the T~wn Board, it was the consensus of c opinion of the Town Board that they are in favor of legislation which?~'~ would permit the Town of Southold to contribute funds toward research, control and eradication of this disease. FURTHER, should legislation he enacted authorizing the Town of Southol~ to expend funds for such purpose, the Southold Town Board would give favorable consideration of a request for the expenditure of funds for this purpose. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the Town Board app~eS & ~eco~endation of the Supt. of Highways that the pay of all employees of the Highway Department be increased ten cents per hour, effective as of Feb. 1, 1960. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill~ RESOLVED: That Supt. of Highways Price be authorized to advertise for bids and purchase from the lowest bidder One (1) new 1960 Internat'l. Dump Truck Model R-192, or equal, complete with one new Gar-Wood Model G-C-2, 4 y~rd dump or equal body with~Model A-50-10 ton hoist or equal, specifications of which may be obtained at the office of the Supt. of Highways, Peconic, L.I. One (1) 1954 International ..:2'6:4 dump truck must be taken in trade as part payment on new truck. The hearing on ~the application of ~rederick R. Ketcham for a change of zone from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B" Business District and the application of LillianM. Brush from "A' Residential and Agricultural District to ~'M" Multiple'Residence District fwas opened by the Supervisor at 7:30 P.m.. The minutes of this hearing were recorded by George T. Lederle.
