HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-01/13/1960-SSPECIAL MEETING OF JANUARY 13, 1960 WAIVER OF NOTICE OF TOWN BOARD MEETING We, the undersigned, being members of the Town Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, do hereby severally waive notice of the time, place, and purpose of ~he meeting of the Town Board to be held at the Town Clerk office in Southold, in the Town of Southold, New York, on Wednesday, January 13, 1960, and do hereby consent that the same be held on said date for the transaction of any business which may properly come before said-meeting. Richmond, Clerk A special meeting of the $outhold Town Board was held at the office of the Town Clerk, Sou~hold, New York, on Wednesday, January 13, 1960, the several members having waived notice of the time, place and purpose of the meeting. The meeting was ~alled to order by Supervisor Tuthill at 7:15 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Tuthilt, Conncilman Albertson; ~ustices Tuthill and Clark; Attorney T&sker; Hishway Supt. Price and Town Clerk Richmond. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLUTIONiAUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF LA/qD FOR USE AS A PUBLIC PARKING PLACE IN AND FOR THE TOWN OF SO~THOLD, SUFFOLK CO., NEW YORK, AT A TOTAL ESTIMATED MAXIMUM COST OF $3,800.00 ~0 BE FINANCED BY THE ISSUANCE OF DEFERRED PAYMENT NOTES OF SAID ToWN IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,800.00. BE IT RESOLVED: by the Town Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New york, as follows: Section 1. The Acquisi~i~n~of the land hereinafter described at ~aximum cost of $3,000.00 for use by the Town of Southold as a public parking place which cost shall be paid for by the issuance of deferred payment notes of said Town in the amount Of $3,000.00 pursuant to the Local Finance Law, is hereby authorized. ALL that certain tract, piece or parcel of land, situate, lying and being at Southold, in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, bounded and described as follows: BEGINNING at a monument on the southerly line of Main Road about 334 feet westerly along said southerly line {rom Mechanic Street, said point of beginning being the northwesterly corner of land of the Southold Park District; from said point of beginning run- ning along said land of the Southold Park District, South 29 degrees 05 minutes 30 seconds East 134.3 feet to a monument and land now or formerly of Reidar Carstensen; thence along said land of Carstensen , South 60 degrees 36 minutes 30 seconds West 77.9 feet to a monument on the easterly line of a 20 feot right- of-way leading to land now or formerly of Bridge; thence along said easterly line of said 20 foot right-of-way, North 29 degrees 23 minutes 30 seconds West 33.4 feet to an iron bolt and land now or formerly of Margery D. Burns; thence along said land of Burns, two courses, as~ follows: (1) North 60 degrees 00 minutes East 16.0 feet; thence (2) North 29 degrees 23 minutes 30 seconds West 100.0 feet to said southerly line of Main Road; thence along said southerly line of Main Road, North 60 degrees 00 miuntes East 62.6 feet to t~e point or place of beginning. Section 2. This resolution shall be subject to a permissive refer- endum to be held thereon as provided in Article 7 of the Town Law, Section 3. Pursuant to Sections 82 and 90 of the Town Law, within ten days from the date of the adoption of this resolution, the Town Clerk shall post and publish a notice which shall set forth the date of the adoption of the resolution, shall contain an abstract of such resolution concisely setting forth the purpose and effect thereof, shall specify that this resolution was adopted subject to a permissive referendum; and shall publish such notice in the Suffolk Times, a newspaper published in s&id Town, and in addition thereto theTown Clerk shall pOSt or cause to be posted in five conspicuous places in the said Town, copies of such notice within ten days after the'adopt- ion .~f this resolution. Section 4. This.resolution shall take effect immediately, and shall be subject to a permissive referendum. The question of the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly put to a vote on roll call, which resulted as follows: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthil! and Clark. The resolution was thereupon declared duly adopted. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthlll: RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Highways be authorized to purchase up to the amount of $900.00 for Snow Plow Blades and Grader Blades. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthil!: RESOLVED: That the Supt. of Highways, be authorized to purchase from the Municipal Machinery~Company, Coram, New York, the following: One (1) National Hydra Kit Complete (2) Used Frink Hydra & Lift Device Dated: Jan. 13, 1960 Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; Counciman Albertson; Justices Tuthill and Clarkl Adjournment was at 7:30 P.M.
