Orville Terry, Lloyd Terry, Kenneth Tabor, and Percey DouglaSs, all residents of Orient, spoke against the increased salaries of the Board of Assessors. They felt that the increase from $2800.00 to $3500.00 was too large an increase for part-time assessors jobs. The S~Dervisor stated to them that the Board of Assessors had done a good job and they had spent much more time re-assessing property in the past year than in the previous years. He stated that if the re-assessing of property had been done by professional Tax Appraisers the expense would run into thousands of dollars° ~enneth Tabor asked how much time the Assessors put in on their jobs. Albert Martocchia stated that the Board of Assessors worked seven months in the past year and that he was at the assessors office nearly every working day throughout the year. Lloyd Terry stated that he thought that the Board of Assessors should have re-assessed real property throughout the whol~ town before entering it on the Tax Books as his taxes in Orient will be higher this year than the rest of the Town. ~ne hearing was closed at 3:30 P.M. and the Town Board meeting was resumed.
