HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-09/08/1959MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 8, 1959. l'95 The Eouthold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, September 8, 1959. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the follow- i~g present: Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Albertson and Dem- arest; Justices Tuthill and Clark; Supt. of Highways Price; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on Audit to examine claims against the Town concluding the audit work at 2:00 P.M. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meetings of August 11, 25 and 31 be and hereby are duly approved as read. VOte of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clar~. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Councilman Demarest: RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board will be held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Green- port, on Tuesday, September 29, 1959, at 1:30 P.M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Albertson and D~mrest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill: WMEREAS, the Village of~ Greenport has requested that the Town Supt. of Highways furnish certain road equipment together with operators to the said Village for the purpose of repairing and resurfacing certain streets within the Village of Greenport, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Super- intendent of Highways be and he hereby is authorized to contract with the Village of Greenport to furnish Highway machinery and operators to the Village of Greenport for the purpose of resurf- acing streets in said Village as may be designated by the Supt. of Public Works at the following rates: ~ One 0il Distributor with two (2) men ~ $5.00 per hour. Five dump trucks with drivers ~ $2.75 per hour each. One sand spreader with two (2) men ~ $4.50 per hour. one Roller with operator ~ $2.50 per hour. One Forman ~ $2.55 per hr. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by COuncilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the report of the Auxiliary Police for the month of Augu~t~b~-accepted by the Town Board and placed~ on file. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice~ark; seconded by Councilman Albertson; RESOLVED: That the report of Ralph P. Cox, Dog Warden, for t~ month of August be accepted by the Town Board and~placed on file. Vote of Town Bo~nd: AyesQSupervisor Klipp; ~ouncilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Councilman Demarest: RESOLVED: That the Police report for the month of August be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Albertson; secmnded by Justice Tuthill: WHEREAB, JOHN F. BORK will have completed si~ months satis- factory service as Watchman for the Town of outhotd on September 1, 1959, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That effective as of Sept. 12, 1959, the salary of J~nn F. Bork will be increased from $15.00 per day to $16,00 per day. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Atbertson' and Demarest; Justices Tuthitt and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Albertson: WHEREAS, I? has been requested by the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District ~hat, effective as of Auqust 1, 1959, the ~nnual compensation of Wilfred C. Sinclair, manager of t-he Fishers Island Ferry D~strict, be increased from $5200.00 per year to $5560.00 per year., NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Board approves of the action of the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Albertson and D~marest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the report of HOWARD M. TERRY, Building Inspector, for the month of August, be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amoun~ of $3,415.43; Lighting District Bills in the amount of $1,848.11; Fishers Island Ferry District Bills in the amount of $10,889.34 be and the same are hereby ordered paid. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the Town Board. of the Town of Southold approves of the Supervisor's action in appointing the following named persons as Fire Wardens for the Town of $outhold, in accordance with Section 52, Subdivision 3, of the Conservation Law: Albin Pietrewicz, Main Rd., Cutchogue, N.Y. Gordon E. Rackett, Shipyard Lane, East Marion, N.Y. Leo Valentine, Fishers Island, N.Y. Frederick E. Gordon, 414 Clark St., Greenport, N.Y. -John Haas, Horton Road, Mattituck,N.Y. William Wysocki, Jr., Orchard Rd, Orient, N.Y. Charles Grigonis, Jr., Main Rd., Southold, N.Y. and be it further RESOLVED: That the appointment becomes effective immediately and expires December 31, 1959.
