HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-08/11/1959-ME~G OF AUGUST 11, 1959 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Ktipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, August 11, 1959. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M, with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justice Clark; Town ATtorney Tasker and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee ~n Audit to examine claims against the Town, concluding th~ audit work at 2:00 o'clock P.M. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: ?~EREAS, EDWARD W. FOX appeared before the Board representing the Cutchogue Chamber of Commerce, ~elative to a piece of property on the east side of First Street running to the Bay and WHEREAS, Mr. Fox and residents of New Suffolk who accompanied Mr. Fox at the meeing, feel that this piece of property belongs to the Town of Southold, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town ATtorney be and he hereby is authorized to meet with Mr. Fox and these residents of New Suffolk and look into the matter of .the~deeds on this property~ Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justice Clark. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting of July 28 be and hereby are duly approved as read. The meeting will be called to order at 1:15 P.M~ The Supervisor i~ hereby ~thorized to provide transportation° The boat will leave Mitchell's Dock in Greenport, ~t 9:00 A.M. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice C~&rk: RESOLVED: That Genreal Bills in the amount-of $6,407184; Lighting District Bills in the amount of $1,952.16; Fishers Island Ferry District Bills in the amount of $9,720.90, be and the same are hereby ordered paid. LORTI for a change of zone fDom "A" Residential and Agricultural Dist- rict to "M" Multiple Residence District on certain real property situate at New Suffolk and a petition of JOHN J. FLEMING for a change of zone from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B" Business District on certain property situate at Mattituck, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That a public hearing will be the above mentioned petitions. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Councilman Demarest: RESOLVED: That the report of HOWARD M~ TERRY, Building Inspector, for the month of July be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file. WOODHULL has applied to the Town Board for a single automobile trailer permit, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of RICHARD L. WOODHULL to locate a single automobile trailer on his property on the N/S of Main Road, Cutchogue, N.Y. be and hereby is grant- ed for a term of six months from the llth day of August , 1959, which term will end on February 11, 1960. Mo~ed by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, upon its own motion, that a Public Hearing be held by the Town Board of ~' Town of Southold in the matter of the e~tension of the Fire District at Fishers Island, in the .Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, known as the Fishers Island Fire Dishrict to embrace the following territory in addition to the territory already contained in and embraced by the district, to wit: ALL that c~rtain tract, piece or parcel of land, situate on Fishers Island, in the Town of Southold, County of Suffolk and State of New York, bounded and described as follows: BEGINNING at the intersection of the southwesterly line of Beach Avenue with the southeasterly line'of Equestrian Avenue, sa~id point being ~ated 618.25 feet North and 3873.92 feet West of U.S. Coast and Geodetic Trianghlation Station "PROS"; from said point of beginning running along said line of Beach Avenue, 8 courses, as follows: (1) South 47 degrees 07 minutes 40 seconds East 514.09 feet; thence (2) South 84 degrees 21 minutes 15 seconds East 345.39 feet; thence (~) South 78 degrees 31 minutes 10 seconds East 281.33 feet; thence (4) South 81 degrees 28 minutes East 447.94 feet; themce (5) South 67 degrees 38 minutes East 342.57 feet; thence (6) North 77 degrees 17 minutes East 202.32 feet; thence (7) North 26 degrees 02 minutes 30 seconds East 131.81 feet; thence (8) North 25 degrees 36 minutes 50 seconds West 32.38 feet to land mow or formerly of Hay Harbor Realty Corp; Thence along said land of Hay Harbor Realty and across the westerly end of a 50 foot right of way leading to land now or formerly of the United States of America, South 39 degrees 45 minutes 10 seconds East 226.28 feet; thence still along said land of Hay Harbor Realty, 3 courses as follows: (1) South 39 degrees 41 minutes 40 seconds East 64.38 feet: thence (2) South 76 degrees 00 minutes West 386 feet; thence (3) South 13 degrees 20 minutes East 107 feet, more or lees, to the shore of Block Island Sound; thence in a ~eneral westerly direction along the shore line of said Block Island and then in a general northerly direction along the shore line of Fishers Island Sound, about 12,200 feet to land now or formerly of the Estate of S. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT such Public Hearing be held at the school building of the Union Free School District No. 4 at Fishers Island in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, on the 25th day of August, 1959, at 1:30 P.M. of said day at which time and place all persons interested in the matter will be heard. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the aTown Elerk of the Town of Southold be and he hereby is authorized and directed to cause a notice of such hearing to be published at least once in the New London~ Day, a newspaper having general circulation in the territory effected, such publisation to be not less th~n'~2~ays~be~ore theday designated therein for the hearing, and the said Town Clerk is further author- ized and directed to cause five (5) copies of such notice of hearing to be posted conspicuously in different places within the territory effeCt~d~ n~t less than 10 or more than 20 days before the day designated for the hearing. Such notice shall contain a description of the proposed extension and shall specify the time when and the place where the Town Board will meet to hear all persons interested in the subject concer~ing the same.
