MEETING.~F MARCH 10, 1959
The Southold Town Board ;me~ atl.the office of Supervisor Norman
E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, March 10, 1959. The meeting
was-called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present:
Supervisor Klipp7 Counnilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices
Tuthill and Clark; Town Supt. of Highways Price; Town Attorney
Tasker and Town Clerk Booth.
The:.Board sat at once as a committee on audit to examine claims
against .the Town concluding the audit work at 2 P.M.
Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark';
RESOLVED:That the minutes of the meeting of February 17
be and hereby are duly approved as read.

RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of the Town Board

WHEREAS, CHARLES E. GOLDSMITH Has applied to the Town Board

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of CHARLES
E. GOLDSMITH to locate a single automobile trailer on his
property on Washington Avenue, Greenport, Town of Southold, N.Y.
be and hereby is granted.

GARLAND to locate a single automobile trailer on the Property
of John Woessner, Main Road, Mattituck, be and hereby is granted
for a term of two years from the 11 day of March, 1959 which term
will end March 10, 1961.

STOUTENBURGH to locate a single automobile trailer on his
prQperty on Bay Avenue, Cutchogue, N.Y. be and'hereby is granted
for~a-term of one year from March 11, 1959 which term will end
on the 10th day of March 1960.

WHEREAS, a petition was receivedfrom THOMAS and OSCAR MOLIN
relative to change of zone,
NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk of the Town'-
of Southold be and he herbby is directed to transmit this applic-
ation to the Planning Board in accordance W~thlnSection 901, Sub-
division C, Article 1H of the Building Zone Ordinance of the TOWn
of Southold.

RESOLVED: That RALPH P. COX, of Mattituck, be and he hereby is
appointed Dog Warden for the Town of Southold including the Village
of Greenport, he to serve at the pleasure of the Town Board and that
his duties be directed by the Town Board, be it further
RESOLVED: That RALPH P. COX be compensated for such services at the
rate of $2500.00 per year payable in regular monthly payments , and
be it. further RESOLVED: That this appointment be effective as of
March 16, 1959. -

RESOLVED: That JOHN F. BORK, of Southold~be and be'hereby is
appointed Watchman to serve in such capacity at the Southotd Town
Police Station, be-it further
RESOLVED: That John F. Bork be compensa/~ed,fOr such services in .the
amount of $15.00 per diem, payable in regular bi-weekly payments
and be it further
RESOLVED: That this appointment be effective as of February 28, '1959,
he to serve in such capacity at the pleasure of the Town Board.

lowest bidder one BITUMINUS MAINTENANCE UNIT with 600 gallon
insulated tank mounted on a two wheel trailer, the cost not to
exceed the sum of $4000.00. -

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be and he ehreby is
directed to request the Greenport Lighting Company to install
two (2) Mercury Vapor Aerial street lights on the poles at t~
entrance and exit to the Greenport Public School on the State
HighWay Route 25 in the West Greenport Lighting District.

The-Board took up the matter of the automobile trailer permit
issued to FLORENCE BUCKINGHAM, also considered the objections
presented to the Board byMrs. Edith Youngs, Mrs. Dittman and
Mrs. Schutt, through their Attorney Edward LaFreniere. After
due consideratioh of the entire matter it was the consensus
of opinion of the Board that the property where the trailer is
located was adequate.

RESOLED: That Bond No. SM178365-3, issued by the American Motor-
ists Insurance Company, on behalf of Otto L. Anrig, in the sum of
Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) be and the Same is hereby approved
as ~o its form, manner of execution and sufficiency of sureties
therein.

WHEREAS, the County of S~ffolk proposes to dredge certain-areas
of Town Harbor Creek andJockey Creek inthe Townoof Southold,
which dredging will be performed by County owned dredging equiP~
ment at a mominal cost to the Town of Southold, and
WHEREAS, in order to accomplish'said dredging, plans, specifications
agreements and other documents must'be executed on behalf of the
Town of Southold, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor
be and he hereby is authorized to execute, on behalf of the Town
of Southold, all necessary plans an~ specific&tions~-spoil~ area
agreements, assurances to the Connty of Suffolk, license and/or
dredging permit applicationsto Federal and State"Agenciesl and'all

the Southold Town Police and the Southold Town artment
for a period from November 1, 1958 to March 31, is abOUt 'to
expire, and
WHEREAS, it is the d~sire of the Town of Southold to contract for
the purchase of gasoline for the period from April 1, i959,
to March 31, 1960,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he here-
~by is authorized to advertise for bids for the purchase of's~Cial
grade gasoline for the use of the Southold Town Police and the
Southold Town Highway Department for the period from~APrill, 1959,
to MArch 31, 1960.

WHEREAS, the Town Board has heretofore referred the matter to the
Planning Board for its acvice and recommendatiOn, and~
WHEREAS, the Planning Board has recommended that the application'
of EDWARD W. LATHAM be granted,
NOW, THEREFORE, .BE IT RESOLVED: that the Town Board of~the' Town
of Southold does hereby establish an OPEN DEVELOPMENT AREA over

~ETING OF MARC~ 20, 1959
A special meeting of the Southold Town Board was held at the
office-of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Breenport, on Friday,
March 20, 1959. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M.
with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Albertson
and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark; Town Attorney Tasker
and Town Clerk Booth.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded hy Justic~' Clark:
WHEREAS, an application was made t6 the Southold Town Board
under date of December 30, 1958 by Bessie Lee Hodges for
permission to establish a Tourist Court (Camp Cottages) on her
property on Seventh Street, Greenport, Town of Southold, N.Y. and
W~EREAS, it is required by the Southold Town Ordinance providing
for the regulation of Tourists Camps, house trailersCamps, house
trailers or similar establishments, that a public hearing be
held on the matter, and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held at Village Hall in Greenport,
o~Tuesday, January 20, 1959, at 2 o'clock P.M. and all persons
attending such public hearing given ample opportunity to speak
in favor of or in opposition to the application, the hearing was
duly closed at 3:30 P.M. and the application was held for
further deliberation of the Town Board.
W~EREAS, all requirements have been complied with in accordance
with the Ordinance,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: the the Town Board of the Town
of Southold does hereby grant permission to Bessie Lee Hodges
to establish and operate a Tourist Court (Camp Cottages) on the
above mentioned site.
