Klipp, Supervisor, be and he hereby is, authorimedto act aa Public Welfar~ officer at the pleasure of the Town Board, and be it further RESOLVED, That Norman E. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: WHEREAS, It is required by Section 148 of the Education Law a local Historian shall be appointed by the Supervisor of a Town, and WHEREAS, the .Supervisor has appointed Wayland Jefferson to act as Town Historian, now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That Wayland Jefferson be compensated while acting in such capacity in the amount of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per year, payable in regular monthly payments, and be it further RESOLVED, That the expenses incurred per year by the Town Historian in the performanceof his duties be paid by the Town in mn amount not to exceed One Hindred Fifty Dollars ($150.00) per year, and be it further RESOLVED, That the Town Clerk be instructed to file such certificate with the proper parties as is required by Section 30, Subdivision 3, of the Town Law. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice TUthill: WHEREAS, It is required that an enforcement officer be appointed for the Multiple Resident Law and a building Inspector be appointed for the enforcement of the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold, now therefore, be it RESOLVED, That Howard M. Terry be, and he ~areby is, appointed enforcement officer for both the Multiple Resident Law and the.- said Building Zone Ordinance for a term. of one year, commencing January 1, 1959, and expiring on Dec~e!nber 31, 1959, and be it further RESOLVED, That the total salary for both positions be and hereby is fixed at. the sum of Five Thousand two hundred dollars ($5,200.) per year, payable in regular monthly payments during said term, and be it further RESOLVED, That the Town Clerk be instructed to file such certificate with the proper parties as is required by Section 30, Subdivision 3, of theTown~Lmw. Terry, enforcement officer for the Multiple Resident Law and Building Zone Ordinance, be compendated for travel exp~ense necessarily and actually incurred in carrying out theduties of his office and that he be further compensated for the use of his owm automobile when used to carry out the duties of his office at a rate not exceeding eight cents ($.~8) per mile. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: WHEREAS, Section 22b of the Town Law allows the Town Board of any Town having more than one assessor to establish the office of Chairman of Town Assessors, who in additionto his regular duties shall 'perform such services in connection with assessment and taxation of property for state, county and town purposes as the Town Board shall direct, now therefore, be it RESOLVED, That Albert Martocchia be and hereby is d~signated to hold the office of Chair,,an of the Town Board of Assessors until the first day od January next succeeding such designation, all in accordance with Section 22b of the Town Law, and be it further RESOLVED, That compensation for such appointment be fixed at $1,500.00 per year, payable in regular monthly payments. Cutchogue, N.Y. Southold, N..Y. Greenport, N.Y. (East-West) East Marion, N.Y. Orient, N.Y. - Fishers Island, N.Y. RESOLVED, That persons appointed as Fire Department Inspectors shall serve without compensation for a te~ beginning January 1, 1959 and ending December 31, 1959. Moved by Councilman Albertson;. seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That all of the foregoing salaries, except Police Patrol- men (Constables) and Watchmen, be effective as of Jamuary 1, 1959. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Albertson ~ and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark, Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: WHEREAS, Section 64 of the Town Law requires the Town Board to designate by resolution banks in this State in which the Super- visor or any other officer of the Town shall deposit all monies coming into their hands by virtue of their offices, and WHEREAS, The Town Board may require any Bank so designated to deposit With such Board the Bonds or Certificates of the United States, of the State of New York, or any County, Town, City, Village or School District of the State of New York as security for such funds so deposited but such bonds or certificates shall b e subject to the approval of the Town Board and shall be deposited in such ~lace and held under such conditions as the Town Board may determine, now therefore be it RESOL~q~D, That the following banks of the Town be and hereby are designated as depositories for all monies of the Town, and be it further RESOLVED, That the amount of security herein set f~rth for each respective bank be and hereby is approved:- First National Bank of Greenport North Fork Bank & Trust Co. Moved by Cou~ilman Albertson; seconded by Councilman Demarest: WHEREAS, Section 62 of the Town Law requires that every Town Board shall meet on or after the 28th day of December, but not later than the 31st day of December, in each year, and WHEREAS, There is no other time specified by law when meetings of'~he Town Board of a Secomd Class Town should be held, now therefore be it RESOLVED, That the Supervisor be and hereby is ea~owered to call all meetings of the Town Board as may be required for the best .interest of the Town, and be it further RESOLVED, That the Supervisor designate Tuesday as the day of the week for calling such meetings, and be it further~ RESOLVED, That each member of the Town Board be given at least 2 days notice in advance of such meeting, notice to contain the time and place where such meeting is to be held. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the Assessors of the Town of Southold who use their own automobiles in the performance of their duties for the Town will be compensated for the use of such automobiles in the amount not to exceed eight cents ($.08) per mile. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the Suffolk Times, Greenport, N.Y. be and hereby is, effective as of ~ebruary 1, 1959, designated as the official newspaper to publish the notice of the Receiver of Taxes that he is in receipt of such tax and assessment roll and warrants, and that the taxes and assessments therein may be paid to the Receiver mt the times and with penalty other than his principal office when and where he will attend for the receipt of taxes and assess- ments in accordance with Section 22 ~f the Suffolk County Tax Act, and all other legal notices as may be necessary and required in accordance with Section 64, Subdivision 11 of the Town Law. The following members of the Town Board are assigned by the Supervisor to the following committees:- Parks and Beaches Inland Watez~ay Improvements Police Taxation and Finance Highway Judge Clark and Councilman Albertson Judge Clark and Judge Tuthill Councilmen Albertson and Demarest Council~m Albertson and 'D~marest Councilman Demarest and Judge Tuthill Supervisor Klipp - Ex officio member of all coe~mittees. Within sixty (60) days after the close of the fiscal year, the Treasurer of each Fire District shall file in the office of the Town Clerk and the State Comptroller a financial statement, setting forth in detail the receipts and expenditures of the Fire District for the previous fiscal year.(Section 181 of the Town Law). On or before the 15th day of &anuary in each year the Co~issioners of each Improvement District shall file with the Town Clerk a financial report for the preceding year. (Section 215, Subdiv.9 of the Town Law). The Town Clerk should advise the Town Board as to existing contracts for lighting, garbage Collection, fire protection, water supply] and also leases of any property rented by'the Town, and specify the date of expiration of such contracts. (Section 64, Sub- divisions 2 & 19, Section 183, 184 and 198, Subdivision 6,7,8 and 9 of the Town Law). The Town Clerk should supply to the ExecUtive Secretary of the AssOc- iation of Towns at the Hotel TenEyck, Albany, New York, a correct list of fhe names and addresses of all Town'Officers and the Supervisor should advise the members that he, the Town Clerk, the Justices Ot the Peace, the Superintendent of Highways, the Assessors, Welfare Officer and the Town Attorney will receive copies of meet- ~ngs, bulletins, etc. issued by the Town and County Officers Training School on subjects of interest and importance to the various officers.
