There are three existing structures on the property: the main house, a rear yard barn, and a small approximately 8'x8' shed located in the side yard. The main house, particularly along its south side, has partially collapsed and is in a state of extreme disrepair. The rear yard barn is also exhibiting structural failure and appears to be on the verge of collapse. In my professional opinion as a licensed architect, both structures pose a significant safety hazard to the public. On July 8, 2025, the property owner installed temporary fencing around the main house. While this serves as a short-term measure to restrict access, it does not address the structural instability of the house or the rear barn, which remains unfenced. The purpose of this letter is to formally request expedited review and processing of the recently submitted demolition permit application by the home owner. I have also attached photographs taken during today's inspection to illustrate the condition of the structures. Given the clear public safety concerns, I respectfully urge the Town to consider this matter with urgency.
