Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Deputy Supervisor Demarest, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan ..... Mr. Walter,Connelly asked if any group ean come to the Town Board for an appr.opria~tion, or is it discr~iminatory?--Justice Demarest-stated ths~.only-:gro~p who. h~as asked_for such an appropriation has heaD. the senior citizens but if any .other g~roup~made such a request~they would consider it. Mrs. Sherley Katz and Mrs. Phyllis Hald and Mr. William Pell further que.stio~.ed the. use of the Adult Recreation Fund.-- Mr. Walter Connelly stated he personall~ does not see why these people should be subsidized to take bus~ trips, most, of the people are very affluent people. If you have ~eople who.cannot a£ford it he can see them coming to the Tow~n ~or the money. If this is for people who have waterfront property a.~d .Cadillacs he does~not thi~kit is fair to use taxpayers money for this.p~pose.---Mrs. Mabel Lytle stated her original understanding when she was president of the organization some years ago was that the money was-appropriated for recreation so khat those who might not be in a position to afford these things would be sure to make the trips, and the idea was they went on one ~ay trips and maybe they took their lunch so there would be no expense for the day. Over~ecent .years it has chan~ed, but-as far as the taxpayers were concerned it was the original thought.---Justice Remarest state~he is personally happy to see a coupleof seni~rcitizens ~et up and protest the spending of this money this way, because the Board h~ thought about it quite a bit. Justice Demarest stated ~hat~ih~most cases, and this is the first overnight to his knowledge, even if the bus.did, step, for luhch, those. ~bo wanted could take their lunck in a bag. .Justice Demarest eited the youth ski trips which were discontinued because mostly those who could afford it wer~ the. only ones who took the. trips,---C~u~ncilma~Rich stated~ the-Board discusse~-the matter before the meeting, and felt there are people who like to take these trips just couldn't affo~them~ therefore the Town is doing nothing for them.
