HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/29/2025 LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING Minutes & Discussion Notes from Meeting held Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. This Regular Meeting was held in the Annex Executive Board Room, located on the 2nd floor at Southold Town Hall Annex, 54375 Route 25(Main Road), Southold, New York. The public had access to view and listen to the meeting as it was happening via Zoom. If an attendee did not have access to a computer or smartphone, there was an option to listen in via telephone. Comments from the public may not be solicited nor received without an appointment. It is expected that the Committee will enter into Executive Session*at some point after opening the Regular Meeting for the purpose of discussing applications regarding proposed acquisitions of real property where publicity would substantially affect the value thereof. The public is not allowed to attend, view, or listen to Executive Session. Committee Minutes and Administration • Acceptance of LPC meeting minutes from July 15, 2025 Tabled until the next meeting. • Next LPC Meeting Date: August 12, 2025 General Preservation • Review of Agriculture-Related Definitions and Use Regulations in the Proposed Zoning Code [continued from 7/15] Lilly reviewed the Committee's draft comments on the agriculture-related definitions and regulations in the proposed zoning code. The Committee members agreed that transient retail and retail that invites onsite consumption require different regulations. Specifically, the Committee members agreed to recommend that retail operations encouraging onsite consumption should not be exempt from site plan, consistent with proposed regulation of tasting rooms. Committee members considered whether to recommend some exemption for minimal onsite consumption but decided not to recommend discretionary decision-making. The Committee also reviewed the proposed code's definition of temporary and permanent greenhouses, compared to the state building code's definition of"greenhouse." The Committee recommended remaining consistent with the state building code. Inquiries/Applications for Uses or Structures on Preserved Property • SCTM# 1000-52.-5-59.10 1435 Albertson's Lane, Greenport Crossroads Atlantic LLC(f/k/a Cassidy) Request to install deer fencing on PDR land The Committee reviewed the landowner's request to install an 8-foot deer fence around the easement area. The Committee determined the request is not in conflict with the terms of the applicable easement. MOTION made by Eric Keil, seconded by Kim Krupski finding that the proposed installation of 8- foot deer fencing as sketched on the survey dated February 23, 2025 and referred to the Land Preservation Department on July 10, 2025 is consistent with the applicable development rights easement.
