MINUTES
SOUTHOLD TOWN BOARD OF APPEALS
June 19, 1962
A meeting of the Southold Town Board of Appeals was
held at the call of the Chairman at 1:00 P.M.~ Tuesday,
June 19, 1962, at the Town Clerk Office, Main Road, Southold,
New York.
There were present: Messrs. Robert W. Gillispie, Jr.,
Chairman, Robert Bergen, Herbert Rosenberg, and Charles
Grigonis, Jr.
Absent: Mr. Serge Doyen, Jr.
The Chairman stated that Mr. Lloyd Terry of Orient had
spoken to him relative to a labor camp on his property. This
labor camp would be closer to other residences thane:his own,
therefore he should file for an expansion of a non-conforming
labor camp under Article X, Section 1003a of the Building Zone
Ordinance. The necessary forms were forwarded to Mr. Terry so
that he might make an application.
The Board of'Appeals received a letter from the Packard
Hose Company of the Southold Fire Department requesting permis-
sion to post advertising signs calling attention to their

donkey baseball game to be held July 13th and block party to
be held July 16th through July 21st.
On motion of Mr. Gillispie~ seconded by Mr. Bergen, it
was
RESOLVED that the Board of Appeals grants permission to
the Packard Hose Company of the $outhold Fire Department to
place posters, approximately 15 inches by 30 inches, on the
Main Roads and in stores in the Southold Fire District from
July 1st through July 21st, a period of approximately 21 d~ys.
These posters will advertise a donkey baseball game and block
party to be held July 13th and July 16th through July 21st.
It is specifically pointed out that these posters must be
removed promptly after the ~st of july.
It is specifically forbidden to place these posters on
utility poles or on private property without permission.
Vote of the Board: Ayes:- Mr. Gillispie~ Mr. Bergen,
Mr. Rosenberg, and Mr. Grigonis.
The Board received a letter from Mr. and Mrs. Albert D.
Dawson, Fishers Island, stating that as adjoining property
owners they wish to call the Board's attentibn to the fact
that A. John Gada, et al, doing business as "Gada's Gas
Station" on land between Montauk Avenue and West Harbor, has
extended his dock further into West Hakbor and that current
reports circulating Fishers Island are that he intends to
conduct a marine gasoline business from said dock. They
believe this is an expansion of a non-conforming use and wish
to know if a building permit has been issued for the expansion
of this dock.
The Board replied to this letter stating that the Board
of Appeals has no authority to adopt a position on the project
they state Mr. Gada has in mind. The Board does not enter a
case until a permit is issued or denied, if a permit is required.
The Board turned the letter over to the Building Department for
attention.

and west by F. Hancock.

RESOLVED that the Board of Appeals set 7:45 P.M. (E.D.S.T.),

Woodhollow Properties, Inc., 3 Glen Lane, Glenwood Landing~ New
York by George A. McMann, Jr., Greenport, New York, for a special
exception in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance, Article
Section 408~ for permission to erect and maintain a second on-
premises ground sign at the Orient-By-The-Sea Yacht Basin, south
side Route 25~ Orient, New York.

Mr. Rosenberg.
On motion of Mr.' Rosenberg, seconded by Mr. Gillispie,

Secticn 408, for permission to erect and maintain a third on-

side Route 25, Orient, New York.

Thursday, June 28, 1962, Town Clerk Office, Main Road, Southold,
New York as time and place for hearing upon application of Falcaro's
Greenport Lanes, Inc., Moore's Lane, Greenport, New York, for a
special exception in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance, Article
IV, Section 408, for permission to maintain a "BOWL" sign on the
roof of Falcaro's Greenport Lanes, Inc., east side Moore's Lane,
Greenport, New York.
Vote of the Board: Ayes:- Mr. Gillispie, Mr. Bergen, and
Mr. Rosenberg.
On motion of Mr. Bergen, seconded by Mr. Rosenberg, it was
RESOLVED that the Board of Appeals set 8:45 P.M. (E.D.S.T.),
Thursday, June 28, 1962, Town Clerk Office, Main Road, Southold,
New York as time and place for hearing upon application of Falcaro's
Greenport Lanes, Inc., Moore's Lane, Greenport, New York, for a
special exception in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance~ Article
IV, Section 408, for permission to maintain a "RESTAURANT" sign on
the center section of the front wall of Falcaro's Greenport Lanes,
Inc., east side Moore~Lane, Greenport, New York.
Vote of the Board: Ayes:- Mr. Gillispie, Mr. Bergen, and
Mr. Rosenberg.
On motion of Mr. Rosenberg, seconded by Mr. Gillispie, it

and area, and Section 280A of the New York State Town Law for
recognition of access. Location of property: private road
(Arshamomaque Colony Road), south side Route 27A~ Arshamomaque,
