Q1: General Feedback: Do you feel the proposed zoning updates reflect the
needs of your community?
No / Farm housing for workers allowing RV's, will these RV's have Septic and Cesspool
requirements like all other Accessory Dwelling units? Farms that are next to residential
properties may look more like a RV Park, the section requiring the Farm to remove worker
housing if it ceases to exist will help to promote RV style housing on the land. "If the farm
operation ceases, the dwellings serving as farm worker housing must either be removed, or
leased year-round at rental rates set by the Town for Community Housing to tenants with
certificates of eligibility for Community Housing." Farm housing should be maintained in a
structed building only and have a landscape shield from the neighbors. No oversight on site
for 2 dwellings - "Up to two farm worker dwellings may be added to a farm operation
without site plan approval by the Planning Board."
Q2: Land Use & Zoning: Do these updates make sense for how you want to see
land used in Southold?
No response

No response
Q4: Housing & Affordability: Do the updates support the kind of housing you
believe Southold needs?
No
Q5: What—if anything—would make housing options better for you and your
neighbors?
Are you removing the requirement for an Accessory Dwelling Unit to have an existing
foundation for the 3 years prior. I wanted to house my elderly mother in a one story ADU
on my property but the law would not allow her to reside here for at least 3 years.
Q6: Natural Resources & Environmental Protection: Do these updates
adequately protect Southold’s natural resources, such as water, wildlife, and
woodlands?
No response
Q7: If not, what else would you like to see in the zoning code for environmental
conservation?
No response

help retain the character of the Southold you know and love?
No response
Q9: If not, what do you think could be improved to preserve Southold’s unique
charm?

concerns related to traffic congestion and pedestrian safety?
No response

traffic congestion and improve pedestrian safety in Southold?
No response
Q12: Support for Agriculture: Do the zoning updates provide sufficient
protections for Southold’s farming industry and farmland preservation?
No response
Q13: If not, what changes would you suggest to further support agriculture and
prevent the conversion of farmland to non-agricultural uses?
No response

sustainable economic development while balancing environmental and
community concerns?
