HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-09/06/1957MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 6~ 1957. The Soutbeld Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Friday, Sept. 67 19~7. The meeting was called to order at i:30-P.M, with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; JusticesTUthill, Clark and Demarest; Superintendent of Highways Price; TewnAttorney Terry and Town Clerk ~ooth. The Board sat at once as a committee on Audit to examine claims against the Town~oncluding the Audit work at 2100 o'clock P.M. Moved by. Councilman Albertscn; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED. That the reading of the minutes of August 6, 19%7, be and hereby~are duly approved as-read. Voteof To~n~ Board.- Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill~ Clark and Demarest. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Coucncilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Harold Price, Superintendent of Highways received a communication from the Rev. Lawrence B. Jones, Vica~ of the Church of the REdeamer~ at Mattituck, requesting She construction of a sidewalk on the east side ef~estphalia Avenue between Pike Street and Sound Avenue in Mattit uck. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Demarest: RESOLVED: That Harold Price~ Superintendent of Highways, Town of South- Old~ be and he hereby is authorized to construct a sidewalk on th~ east side of Westphalia Avenue between Pike Street and Sound Avenue in Mattituck. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Councilman Albewtson; seconded by Justice Demarest: P~HEREAS, considerable uncertainty has existed as to the propriety of the Seal of the Town currently in user and WHEREAS~ the Town Board of the Town of Southold, after due deliber- ation, and by and with the advice and consent of the Town Historian~ has concluded that the following embossed design is the origiaal seal used by the Town.~ NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved that the Official To~ Seal shall be the f$llowing device herein impressed upon the records~ effective October l, 195~. Racket of East Marion, N.Y. be and he hereby is appointed School Traffic Officer to direct traffic at the East Marion School crossing, at a salary of $~.50 per day for each school day worked~ effective as of September 9, 19~7~ he to serve at the pleasure of the Town Board. Vote of Town Hoard: ANes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Alber~son; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest~ Moved by Councilman Albertson~ seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That Bond No. SM 178199-2, issued by the American Motorists Insurance Company in the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($~00.00) on behalf of Edwmrd Stanley Brush, be and the same is hereby approved as to its form~ manner of execution, and sufficiency of sureties therein. Vote of Town Board: A yes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill~ Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by. Justice Tnthill: RESOLVED: That Bond No. SM178188-2, issued by the American Motorists Insurance Company in th~ sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($~00.00) on behalf of Harry W. Smith~ be and the same is hereby approved as to its form, manner of execution~ and sufficiency of surities therein. That General Bills in the amount of $6,~O7~.61, Lighting District Bills in the amount of $1~$57.15; Fishers ~Island Ferry Distric~q Bills in the amount of $26~586.76, ~be and the same are hereby ordered paid.
