HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-04/23/1957392 MEETING OF APRIL 23, 19~7. The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport~ on Tuesday, April 23~ 19~7. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Just'ices Tuthill~ Clark and Demarest; Supt. of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk~Booth. Moved by Councilman Alberts6n; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the minutes of April 9th and April 19th be and here- by are duly approved as read .... Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supeevisor Kiippi Councilman Albe~tsOn~... Justices Tuthill, Clark~a~d DemarCate.~ Moved by Councilman ~lbertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the regul~ monthly audit meeting of this Board will be held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport~,o~ on Tuesday, May 7, 1957, at 1:30 P.M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-SupervisQr ~ipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. At 2 o'clock P.M. in~gcco~dance'with a n~t~C& published according, to law, bids were opened for'proposals for furnishing to the Town of Southold two new 19~7 2-door 8 cylinder standard mode~.auto- mobiles for use as police cars. The following bids werg,~su~m~tted. Greenport Auto Sales- Two 8 cylinder Ford autos at a tota~ cQst $~,146.00. Delivery price - $196~.1Q~ delivered at the Po~iceDepartm~ent in 4 to 6'weeks. Cutchogue Auto Sales- Two 8 cylinder Ford Autos at a total cost of $$~70.00. Trade-in allowance $2920.00. Delivery price $16~0.00, delivered at the Police Department in 30 days. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Demarest: RESOLVED: That the bids be placed in the hands of the Police Committee for their consideration and report back later at this meeting. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest: ~ER~S, the Police Committee reported that the lowest bid was submitted by the Cutchogue Auto Sales, now therefore, be it RESOLVED: That Norman E. Klipp~ Supervisor, be and he hereby is directed to enter into a contract with the Cutchogue Auto'Salss for purchase of two 2-door sedan standard model 8-cylinder 19~7~650.00 d~livered at the Police Depart- automobiles at a price of $1~ ment in 30 days. Vote of Town Noard: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill: Clark and Demarest and Councilman Albertson. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RES.OL~ED:~That ~he~proba~ienary appointment of Frank E. Bondarchuk and Henry F. Santacroce as Police Patrolman (Constables) of the Town of Sou~hold( be~ changed td permanent appointments and that the com-~ pensation of said appointees be increased from $11.OO to $12.~O per diem, payable in regular bi-weekly payments effective as of April 27, 19~7. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill~ Clark and Demarest. An ingitation was received from the Memorial Day Committee of the Griswold-Terry-Glover Post of the American Legion, cordially inviting the Town Board to be present at the Parade and ceremonies which will be held at Sou~hold~ on Memorial Day~ May 30~ 19~7. Parade will assemble at 10.30 A. M. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: WHEREAS, Section 93 of the Eailroad Law of the State of New York provides in pertinent part that when e highway crosses a railroad by an overhead br~dge~ the framework of the bridge and its abut- ments, shall be maintained and kept in repair by the railroad corp- orati~oni and WHEREAS~ it appears that the overhead bridge on Bridge Lane ~n the Town of Southold hes not been properly maintained and kept in repair by the railroad corporation~ NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that t~e Supervisor of the Town of Southotd be and he hereby is directed to notify the proper officials of the Long Island Railroad of such inadequate maintenance and to request that they take such steps as may be necessary in order to properly insure the safety and security of the travelling public~.
