HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-01/29/1957MEETING OF JANUARY 29~ 1957 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport~ on Tuesday~ January 29~ 19~7. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Norman E. Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill~ Clark and Deamrest; Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Co~ucilman Albertson; RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board; &yes-Supervieor Klipp; Justices Tuthill~ Clark and ~emearest and Councilman Albertson. Moved by CounCilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: Tha~ the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board will be held at the 8~fice of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport~ on Tuesd~y~ February ~ 19~7~ at 1:30 P~M: Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp~ Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill~ Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest; seo~an~Sd~s~y Councilman AZbertson: WHEREAS~ The Superintendent of Highways did on the 29th day of Jan- uary~ 1957, recommended the purchase of a new sand spreader to take the place of one now in use by the Highway Dep~rtment and which was purchased March ~, 1947~ NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Highways be and hereby is authorized to advertise for bids and purchase from ~he lowest bidder one new ~ood Roads Model l0 Champion Handy l0 ft. ~preader or equal. Spreader must have flexible keyboard of tempered spring steel to permit obstacles in material to pass through~ at a cost not toexceed $1500.00~ one Buckeye l0 foot spreader to be taken in trade as part payment on new spreader. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill~ Cl~rk and Demarest. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark: ~E~EAS~ The Superintendent of Highways did on the ~9th day of Jan- uary~ 1957~ recommend the purchase of a new front end loader to re- place one now Used by the Highways Department~ which was purchased in M~rch, 1952~ NOW~ THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED: That the ~uperintendent of Highways be hn~ he hereby is authorized to advertise for and purchase from the lowest bidder~ one ne model H. M. Hough one and one half yard front end loader with four wheel drive and power steering or equal. One model H. M. Hough one ~nd one half yard fro~ end loader must be taken in trade as part payment on new loader. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill~ Clark and Demarast. ~ved by JUstice Tuthill~ seconded by Justice Clark: R~SOBVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to request the Long Island Lighting Company to install two (2) additional 100 c.p. aerial street lights in the Mattituck #l Lighting District~ said lights to be placed on Poles No. ll and No. 15 on F~ctory ~venue~ in Mattituck. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justice~ Tuthill~ Clark and Demarest. Moved by Co~ucilman Albertson; secon88~ by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the Supervisor ~e instructed to transmit to the Assemblyman the request that the Fishers Island Ferry District Act be amended so as to provide that the District may acquire~ maintain~ improve~ repair and replace public utility distribution lines on property ~W or hereafter acquired by the District; that Section 3 of the Act~ relative to sealed bids be amended so as to conform with Section 103 of the General Municipal Law; and that the provisions of the Act relative to annual elections ~e changed to provide for the aDpointment of three Inspectors of Election who are not Commissioners and that the existing Commissioners cease to act as Inspectors of Election. A further request that the Board determine the advisability of changing the qualifications of voters was referred back to the commissioners. Albertson: Seconded By Louis Mo Demarest: ~EREAS~ the Town Superintendent of Highways did, on the 8th day o~ January~ 19~7~ duly recommend the purchase of ~ertain equipment pu~su~n~ ~o the provisions'of Section 1~2 of the Highway L~w, N~W, THEREFOBE~ BE iT RESOLVED that pursuant to Section 142 of the HighwaylLa~'the Town Superintendent of Highways is hereby authorized to pur~has~ in accordance with the provisions of Article ~mA of ~he General Municipal Law~ with the approval of the County Superin~udent of Highways, the following: One 19~7~International Model R-192 Dump Truck complet? with One new Ga~mW~od~ Model GC2 ~ yard Heavy duty dump body w~th Model A-50-lO ton capacity hoist~ Tail Gate 6 yard capacity & 8~ cab pro- tector as called for in specifications for bidders~ for a maximum price of Eight thousand three hundred ninty-three 2~/100 Dollars ($8,393.2~)~ delivered at Peconic, ~.Y. ~nd to be delivered on or about Feb. l~, 19~7. The Town Superintenden~ of Highwqys is hereby authorized, subject to the approval of the County Superintendent of Highways~ to surrender to the vendor One 1951 International Model R-19O Dump Truck as part of the payment for-the above mmchinery to be purchased. The terms'of payment will be as follows: Trade-in allowance ~1,~9~.68 Check drawn on Machinery F~ad---- 6.798.~7 Total --- $8i3~3.25 Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest.
