Department of Transportation relative to the repair of the seawall at East Marion. While there Councilman Nickles inquired about the effects of highway runoff into Gardine~s Bay, and whether the S~ate had approval from the DEC. The DOT responded to Councilman Nickles stating: ,We are awa~e that storm wa~er runoff carries~some potentially polluting materials including deposits from passing vehicles as well as the paving itself. While these materials might have a potential long range impact there is little or no evidence we are aware of, that these pollutants have had an adverse effect on water quality. Therefore~ ~n our opinion, this project is not likely to have any significant impact on water quality."
