Dear Mr. Kuzloski:
I have recently received a response from your office regarding
an inquiry I made with regard to installing a traffic signal on
Route 25 at the A & P Shopping Center in Mattituck. I was
disappointed with your response as I hoped you would have been able
to resolve this problem.
Several days ago, a constituent gave me a petition with
approximately 1250 names! It is self evident that the residents in
this community want a traffic signal. If it is not possible to
place a traffic signal at the entrance of the shopping center, then
I suggest you find a intersection in the immediate vicinity to
place one.
I cannot stress to you strongly enough that you send your
engineers back to. the intersection in question and find a site to
place a traffic signal. I think it is safe to assume that a
traffic control device can be placed somewhere in the immediate
area to help control the flow of traffic.
When 1250 people take time out to sign a petition, it is
obvious that there is a problem in the area. The residents of the
community use that intersection at all times of the day and might
have spotted problems that your engineers have not.
This request is certainly not new as the former Assemblyman
had written your office several times on this matter. The
increased. population and traffic has only exacerbated the
frustration level of all the area residents with regard to their
safety.

Dear Ms. Acampora:
Your August 24 , 1994 Letter
Route 25 at the A & P Shopping Center
Mattituck
This is in response to your letter expressing the continuing
concerns of your constituents for the installation of a traffic
signal either at or in the vicinity of the A & P Shopping Center
to help control, the flow of traffic on Route 25 .
We will review our previous investigation to determine if the
installation of a traffic signal in the area is appropriate. As
you are aware, the Department receives numerous requests for
traffic controls throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties . Our
investigators are working on backlogged requests from the public,
other municipalities, and elected officials . This location will
be investigated as expeditiously as possible; we anticipate
completing review by the end of December 1994 . We will notify
you of our decision shortly after the conclusion of our -study.
Your understanding and continued cooperation in traffic related
matters is appreciated.
Very truly yours,
j4ES ZLO.SKI
