Dear Mr. Martocchi~, and members of the Town Board,
The Nor'th'Fork Environmental Council, Inc. with more than 300
members would like to go on record officially as urging~ou, ~in
the st~gest possible language~ to purchase the land at~'0rient
Point as a Town Park.
We sincerely hope that you will receive recommendations, of this
sort from other organizations and that you first step iL thi's
worthwhile project wil%_be to callS.for a public hearing on the
matter, which, we hope, will lead to a referendum and whate~er~other
action is necessary.
If there is one clear solution to the Orient Point question it i-s
Town acquisition. Not only will the vast majority_of local people
support such a move, but we are'convinced the ehtire Town will Support
it. Orient Point is a very special piece of geography and mustbe
