Moved by Justice Suter, seconded b~C~unciiman Homan, it was RESOLVED that the reports of the Supervisor, Building Inspector and own Clerk for the month of May 1973 be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file. Vote of the Town Board:..Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia,' Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest seconded by Councilman Homan, it was RESOLVED that Supervisor_Martocchia~be and he hereby is authorized to enter into an option agreement for 22 acres of land on Route 27, Soutk°l~, owned by the Donahue family for a six (6) months period at an option price of $1,000.00~ ~for'the use Of a Town Hall building. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. The folio.wing resolution was _6ffered by Justice Suter who moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Hogan, _ WHEREAS the Town of Southold has requested the County of Suffolk to dredge~, a navigation channel in Little Creek, Town of Southold, and WHEREAS the~Count_y of Suffol~ proposes to do said..dredging of Little Creek in the Town of Southoid at a nominai cost to the Town of Southoid, and WHEREAS, in order to accomplish said dredging, plans~ specifications, agreements and.other documents must be executed on behalf_of the Town of Southold, now therefore-be ~it ...... RESOLVED that the .Supervisor be and he here_by is a~thorized to execute, on behalf of the Town of Southold all necessary plans and specifications, spoil area agreements, assura, nces to the Country of Suffolk, license and/or dredg~ing permit applications to Federal and State Agencies and all other documents tkat may be~ required accomplish said dredging work ..... 364 Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Surer-, Justice De~marest. Moved by Justice Demarest, seconded ~y Councilman Rich, it was RESOLVED that Claude Kumjian be given a three months leave of absence from his position as police radio operator, and be it further RESOLVED that Claude Kumjian be assigned to summer police duty at a pay rate of $3.00 per hour. Moved by Councilman Homan, seconded by Justice Suter, it was RESOLVED that the Southold Town Board create the position of Clerk-Typist in the Building Department at a pay rate of $4,800.00 per annum. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Suter, seconded by Councilman Rich, Wt~EREAS Mabel Miles applied to the Town Board for a single trailer renewal permit dated May 28, t973~ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the application of Mabel Miles to locate a s~ngle trailer on her property at private road, Mattituck, New York, be and hereby is granted-for a period of six (6) m0n'~hs. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Councilman Rich, seconded by Councilman 5mman, WHEREAS the Southold Town Planning Board and Suffolk Cqunty Planning Department have prepared official reports~a-nd recommendations on the application of Edgar and Arlene Marvin, 1260 Jackso-n Street, New Suffolk, New York, for a change of zone from UA" Residential and Agricultural District to "B" Light Business District, - NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED that a public hearing will be held by the Southold Town Board at Greenport, New York, 16 South Stmeet, on July 10, 1973 at 7:30 P.M., on the abovementioned petition, and that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is authorized and direc~ed-~to cause notice of said hearing to be published in the official newspaper pursuant to the requirements of law. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Councilman Homan, seconded by Councilman Rich, WHEREAS the Bouthold Town Planning Board and Suffolk County Department of Planning have prepared official reports and recommendations on the application of Leisure Gre'~ns, Inc~, Main Road, Mattituck, New York, for a change of zone from ..... "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B" Light Busines~ District, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a public hearing will be held by the Southold Town Board at Greenport, ~ew York,- 16 South Street, on July 10, 1973 at 8:00 P.M., on the abovementioned petition, and that the Town clerk be and he hereby is a~thoriz~d and directed to cause notice of said hearing to be published in the official newspaper pursuant to the requirements of law. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocc~ia, Couhcilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice ~Suter, Justice Demares~. Moved by Justice Demarest, seconded by Justice Suter, WHEREAS a petition was received from Harold W. Wilsburg, Mattituck, New York requesting a change of zone on certain property at Orient Point, said petition for a change of zone from "A"-Residential and A~ricultural District to "M-i" General Multiple Residence District, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Clerk bf the Town of Southold be and he hereby is directed to transmit this applica- tion to the Planning Board in accordance with Article XVI, Section 1600 of the Building Zone Ordinance of the To~n of Southold. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. ;365 Moved by Councilman Rich, seconded by Councilman Homan, WHEREAS the Southold Arch~e01ogical AssoCiation has requested financial aid from the Town of Southold to carry on their work at the museum, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town of Southold donate $500.00 to the Southold Archaeological Association. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich Councilman Homan, Justice Suter Justice Demarest. On April 26, 19~3 at 2:00 P.M. bids were opened by the Supervisor for two sanitary ~nits for twon beaches. Only one bid was rsceived: Super Secur Cmmfort Stations $13,412.00 Movedby Councilman Homan, seconded by Councilman Rich, it was RESOLVED that Supervisor Martocchia be and he hereby is authorized to enter into a contract with Super Secur Comfort Stations for the purchase of two units as per bid of $13,412.00. Moved by Councilman Rich, seconded by Councilman Homan, WHEREAS the American LegiDn Anxiliary, Griswcld-Terry-Glover Unit ~803 applied to the Town Clerk for a Bingo License, and WHEREAS, the Town Board has examined the application, and after investigation, duly made findings and determinations as required by la~, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Supervisor be and he hereby ~s -authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the Town Board~, the findings and determinations required by law, and it is further ~ESOLVED that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to issue a Bingo LiCense to the American Legion Auxiliary ~riswold-Terry-Glover Unit ~803. Moved by Justice Suter, seconded by Justice Demarest, it was RESOLVED that the Town Clerk be and he hereby ~s instructed to request the Long Island Lighting Company to install a new 175 MV street light on Peconic Bay Boulevard, Mattituck, New York, P~le ~L~ACO. 77. Southold Town Board, Southold,~ L.I., Gentlemen: I wish to advise you that at the recent meeting of the one- hundred and ten member Oysterponds Rod and Gun Club, Inc. the membership voted, without exception, to oppose county take-over of Orient ~nd. 366 Specifically, this is the property at the very point~ ~ formerly the farm of Geo. and B. Dear Mr. Martocchi~, and members of the Town Board, The Nor'th'Fork Environmental Council, Inc. with more than 300 members would like to go on record officially as urging~ou, ~in the st~gest possible language~ to purchase the land at~'0rient Point as a Town Park. We sincerely hope that you will receive recommendations, of this sort from other organizations and that you first step iL thi's worthwhile project wil%_be to callS.for a public hearing on the matter, which, we hope, will lead to a referendum and whate~er~other action is necessary. If there is one clear solution to the Orient Point question it i-s Town acquisition. Not only will the vast majority_of local people support such a move, but we are'convinced the ehtire Town will Support it. Orient Point is a very special piece of geography and mustbe preserved for the public good. And there is no more ideal place for a Town Park than this excellent fishing area and beach.
