Many factors attribute to the raise - increase in police retirement, insurance costs have risen from $78,000. for this year to approximately $125,000. next year. He has proposed salary increases for full-time public officials including the Assessors, Supervisor, Highway Superintendent and Town Clerk. Memorial Library, Greenport spoke about the lack of the $10,000 additional, funds given to the libraries last year' 'when it was determined there were funds available at the end of the year.---Supervisor Martocchia stated that was done for the first time last year due to the ~'vail- ability of surplus funds. However, that money is not available this year and won't be in the 1979 budget.---Mrs. Terry said they were relying on this additional allocation for 1979. She asked why there was money in the budget for police cars.---Supervisor Martocchia stated they buy half the cars one year and half the next year, making each car last two years contrary to what had been done several years back.
